PDRRMCand 16 fire incidents in S. Cotabato this year
KORONADAL CITY - Sixteen fire incidents have been reproted in South Cotabato in 2015, the provincial disaster risk reduction office today said.Mila Lorca, South CotabatoProvincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) Action Officer, told DXOMRadyo Bida Koronadal that the data does not include fire incidents that were not reported to the bureau of fire office. Recent fire incidents involved a private school and two residential homes in Koronadal City and the grass fire near the borders of Tantangan, South Cotabato and Tacurong City in Sultan Kudarat.With the rising fire cases, Lorca appealed to the public to help prevent fire by doing simple things.Among them is to avoid charging mobile phone overnight, avoid throwing cigarette butts on dry grass field, unplug unnecessary home appliances when not in use.In Kidapawan City, hundreds of agricultural products were destroyed such as coconut and rubber trees during a grass fire ignited by the burning of a pile of sawdust in Barangay Paco.
