NorCot placed under calamity after quake hits 2 towns

KIDAPAWAN
CITY – The province of North Cotabato has been placed under state of calamity
following the 5.2 quake that hit a village in Makilala, North Cotabato.

This after
the Sangguniang Panglalawigan acted on the recommendations of the Provincial
Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC).

PDRRMC
record showed at least 10 villages of Makilala and seven villages in Tulunan
had been affected by the quake which Phivolcs authorities traced to a new found
fault line spanning from Makilala to Colombio, Sultan Kudarat province.

More than
200 families were affected, 70 houses were damaged, a barangay hall, a chapel,
a mini-gym, bodega and health center.

With the SP
declaration, the PDRRM can now use its quick response funds.

The
declaration of state of calamity of the entire province came despite only two
of North Cotabato’s 17 municipalities and a city were affected. (NE)
