MILF rebel killed by own group

KIDAPAWAN CITY - A 48-year old farmer believed to be a member of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) was killed when attacked by allegedly members of the same rebel front in a village here Friday. Chief Inspector Elias Colonia, chief of Matalam municipal police station, identified the victim as Samod Baraguir, member of the 5thBrigade of the 108thBase Command of the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF) of the MILF. Colonia, citing initial investigation, identified Baraguir’s attackers as members of the 7thBrigade of the 108thBase Command of the BIAF-MILF under a certain Commander Pangkoy Sali. Police said the victim was harvesting hispalayat Barangay West-Patadon here when attacked by Sali’s men. Baraguir was hit on his head and different parts of his body. Colonia said relatives failed to retrieve Baraguir’s body on Friday when they were also attacked by Sali’s men. They were able to recover the body the next day after they sought help from some elders in the village, reports said. Clan feud, which stemmed from land conflict, is believed motive behind the killing, Colonia said.
