Mild quake hits Makilala Wednesday
COTABATO CITY - A magnitude 2.7 mild quake hit the town of Makilala, North Cotabato at past 3 a.m. today, December 17.No immediate report of damages to properties or injury was reported in the tremor that Phivolocs said was tectonic in origin.The mild quake hit at 3:10 a.m.. with a depth of 26 kilometers and traced 10 kilometers south of Makilala.On September 20 this year, more than 100houseshouses and a chapel were damaged in successive earthquake that hit Makilala and Kidapawan City, both inNorth Cotabato.Renato Solidum, Phivolcs director, was quoted as saying by the Associated Press the series of tremors in Kidapawan and its environs today, described as swamps, have occurred in the past but no damages were reported.A town village in Makilalacelebrating its festival was among the badly hit community which was nearest to the epicenter of the magnitude 5.2 earthquake that struck at past 12 noon.A report from Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-12) showed the residents of Barnagay Luayon reported that at least54 houses and a chapel were slightly damaged.
