Marawi City cops arrest 8 in illegal drug buy bust

CAMP SK PENDATUN, Maguidnanao -- Eight persons were arrested in a mid-day anti-illegal drug buy bust operations in Marawi City Monday, police said today. Senior Supt. Rustom Duran, Lanao del Sur police provincial director, in his report to Chief Supt. Agripino Javier, acting police regional director in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PNP-ARMM), said the buy bust operation also resulted in the recovery of two motorcycles and more than Php50,000 cash believed to be drug money. Chief Inspector Parson Asadil, Marawi City police chief, said the buy bust was conducted by joint city and provincial police office at a house in Barangay Patani, Marawi City at 12:30 Monday. He said PO1 Adzman A. Omar of Marawi City PNP was in civilian clothes and acted as poseur buyer. Omar successfully purchased Php1,000 worth of shabu from Bolawan Andia who handed him over the stuff. However, Asadil said, Andia, 48 years old, noticed the presence of lawmen near her home so she immediately ran inside and locked the main gate. The lawmen barged inside the residential compound and arrested Andia and seven others, identified as Candao Andia, 23 Aida Dumato, 21 Panda Amerol, 35 Amera Dumato, 17 Alnor Dumato, 18 Naslimah Dipatuan, 18, all residents of Barangay Patani, Marawi City and Abdan Alip, 42, of Barangay Barimbingan, Ditsaan Ramain, Lanao del Sur. Seized from them were several sachets of shabu and illegal drug paraphernalia. Supt. Duran said the suspects are now detained at Marawi City police lock-up cell while charges for violation of Repubic Act 9165 are being prepared against them.
