Makilala LGU to require registration of all dogs
MAKILALA, North Cotabato -- All pet owners herewill be required to register their pets once a local ordinance is approved, a town official said today.Town Vice Mayor Ricky Cua told DXND Radyo Bida that the proposed ordinance, to be called Municipal Pet Ordinance,is now on its third and final reading of the town Council.Authored byCouncilor Pedro Ang, his proposed ordanance aims to amed Ordinance No. 2002-336 because it lacks administrative provisions that directs a government agency for the full implementation of the local law.Under the ordinance, village chairpersons and the office of the town veterinary office were directed to implement the registration of all pet owners in town.Every time a pet owner registers his or her dog, a P50 registration fee is required plus a vaccination of the pet.A P1,000 penalty await violators for first offense, P2,500 for second offense and a P2,500 penalty plus three month detention of owners for third offense.Cua said the ordinance aims to ensure the safety of all residents of Makilala from rabid dogs.
