KORONADAL CITY - Rampaging waters brought about by an overnight rain fall Wednesday has collapsed a hangingbridge that connects Barangay Udtong and Poblacion in Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat, officials said. Lambayong Vice Mayor Ramon Abalos said the Kapingkong and Ala River overflowed Wednesday morningdue to heavy down pour.A motorist was rescued after he tried to cross the river using his motorbike. The vehicle was carried away byflood waters. Abalos said the provincial government, through the provincial disaster risk reduction and management council, is readying assistance for the affected villages. Heavily affected by the floods were Barangays Kapingkong and Tinumigis in Lambayong. Abalos told DXOM-AM that the Alla River dike helped spare several villages from flood waters from upstream villages of Lambayong. He appealed to villagers to remain vigilant against sudden upsurge of river watersas the rainy season has come. Residents living along the Isulan-Tacurong City highway were forced to evacuate as river waters overflowed.
