Kalamansig girl dies after dangling logs on a truck hit her
COTABATO CITY –
A 12-year-old girl who just attended a dawn mass in Barangay Limulan,
Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat died hours after she was hit by a sagging log on a
hauler truck Wednesday morning.

Mulod, a resident of Kalamansig, said Jassy Faye Baltazar Jumamil, along with
friends and relatives, was on her way home from attending the misa de gallo” when
atop the Limulan bridge a log dangling on an M and S (Magsaysay and Sons)
Logging company truck hit her in the head.
She was rushed
to Lebak Doctors’ Hospital in Barangay Salaman, Lebak, Sultan Kudarat but
expired hours later.
Mulod said it
was the second incident involving M and S logging firm in two months. He said an old woman was ran-over by a
logging truck of the same company and died.
Jumamil, grade 7 student of Kalamansig National High School and only daughter of Jojo and
Flerida Jumamil, sustained serious injuries on her neck and head.
Her
companions said they did not notice the dangling log atop the hauler truck,
they could have avoided it had they seen it before hand,” Mulod said, quoting
the victim’s companions.
Mulod said the
logging firm vowed to help the family and takes care of the burial expenses.
Tragedy for
the young girl... I thought there is a moratorium in logging,” Fr. Eliseo
Mercado of the Oblats of Mary Immaculate, posted on his Facebook account.
