Grenade found, defused near Cotabato City restaurant

COTABATO CITY – Police and military
bomb experts safely defused a live hand grenade found at the vicinity of a
restaurant along Sinsuat Avenue Sunday night, Cotabato City.

Senior Supt. Raul Supiter,
Cotabato City police director, said the grenade was found just in front of Cafe
Florencio Bingo Centeralong Sinsuat Avenue at past 8 p.m.

Responding bomb experts said the
grenade was live and has no more safety lever.

management prevented bloody incident. Beside the restaurant was bingo game area. It was the third incident involving grenades in Cotabato Citythe past two days. (See related story)

According to Panga Abdulradzak, one of the bingo players, a slightly loud thud was heard by bingo afficionados but ignored it until a security guard confirmed andalerted them. We never though it was a grenadeat first but when the security guard doubled checked it, indeed it was a grenade so the owner alerted the police, Abdulradzak said.In July 2013, a grenade was also lobbed at Cafe Florencio which left the restaurant manager dead.Police are still investigating
behind the grenade attack.

Traffic flow was diverted while
bomb experts were defusing the IED.
