Fuentes pushes creation of SoCot Regional Medical Center
KORONADAL CITY
(Sept. 7/NDBC) – South Cotabato Gov. Daisy Avance-Fuentes today reiterated her
desire to establish the South Cotabato Regional Medical Center here to also
serve the other half of the SOCCSKSARGEN region.
Speaking over DXOM-Radyo
Bida-Koronadal, Fuentes said the medical and health needs of the people of
South Cotabato is rising, thus the need for modern and bigger hospital.
SOCCSKSARGEN
is composed of the provinces of North and South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat,
Saranggani and the cities of Cotabato, Koronadal, Tacurong, Kidapawan and Gen.
Santos.
The lone Cotabato
Regional and Medical Center (CRMC) is in Cotabato City.
Fuentes said
about 90 percent of CRMC clients are from Cotabato City and Maguindanao.
South Cotabatois pushing for the conversion of Allah Valley Community Hospital in
Surallah town into Regional and Medical Center. A bill is now pending at the committee
level of the House of Representatives.
While Congress’
action is yet to come, Fuentes said she proposed the conversion of the Allah
Valley Community Hospital into Surallah Municipal Hospital within the year.
In July,
Fuentes and Health Sec. Enrique Ona signed a memorandum of agreement for the operation,
expansion and development of Allah Valley Community Hospital in Barangay Dajay,
Surallah.
DOH-Manila is
set to release P63 million for the project. (NDBC)
