DOH-12 exec calls for concerted efforts vs. malnutrition
KORONADAL CITY
- A ranking official of the Department of Health in Region 12 has appealed to stakeholders
to consolidate efforts in mitigating problems on malnutrition.
Dr. Teogones
Baluma, DOH 12 regional director, challenged the local government officials to
work closely with the community to address malnutrition problem.
In order for
us to solve the malnutrition problem the local government unit, families and
the community must work together,” Baluma said.
Baluma also
thanked the Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) its extra efforts in containing malnutrition
problem.
Baluma who
also chairs the National Nutrition Council (NNC) in the region attended the
2014 NNC Regional Awarding Ceremony and the launching of the agency’s Ten
Kumainments, a nutritional guidelines for Filipinos in Koronadal City Wednesday.
The awarding
ceremony was aimed at giving recognition to local government units (LGU) and
BNS in the regional, provincial, city/municipality and barangay levels for its outstanding
contribution on the malnutrition programs of the government.
