Cotabato vet office acts on bitter-tasting eggs complaints

COTABATO CITY - The Cotabato City veterinary office is asking consumers to submit samples of bitter-tasting egg as more and more people are complaining about the unusual taste ofegg they bought from various markets in the city and its environs.Dr. Robert Malcontento, Cotabato City veterinarian, said consumers are advised to bring to his office samples of bitter tasted egg, including those that were not cooked yet for laboratory examination.Initial investigation showed that the feeds given to egg laying chicken were laden with ampalaya powder, thus the taste become bitter.Carlito Nunez, Cotabato City trade and industry head, said consumers who bought several trays of eggs with bitter tastes may return the product because it was guaranteed rights among consumers.
