BFP-Kidapawan warns of bush fires during summer
KIDAPAWAN CITY -- Officials of the Bureau of Fire Protection here on Sunday reminded residents to help prevent bush fires that occur during summer time.As the country commenced the month-long celebration of Fire Prevention Month, the BFP said aside from electrical-triggered fire, bush fire could also hit houses nearby.This year's theme is Kaligtasan sa sunog alamin, at isabuhay natin.”Nationwide, from January 1 to date, 607 fire incidents were reported with seven deaths and most of the causes were electrical while the rest were unattended candles and lighted cigarette buts. Fire Senior Inspector Luwyn Amoyar, Kidapawan City fire Marshall, urged residents to disposed flammable garbage properly and ensure that bush around them would not get ignited into conflagration.To people living in forested areas, Amoyar urged them to report to fire office should bush fire occur. Amoyar urged residents to avoid using octopus connection of electricity at home because it is the common cause of conflagration. Octopus connection refers to house electrical connections with multiple connections. In Kidapawan City, only one fire incident was reported this year.
