Basilan PG maximizing personnel computer literacy
BASILAN --- The provincial government wants all rank-and-file employees honed in use of computers to maximize public service efficiency using cyber technology.
Basilan Gov. Jim Salliman said Friday he wants all of his subordinates, particularly those involved in technical fieldworks, to keep upgrading their computer literacy skills as part of his continuing modernization of the provincial government’s operation.
Salliman first got to the helm of the Basilan PG as governor in 2013 and was, subsequently, reelected to a second term last May 13.
There is fragile peace now spreading around Basilan, covering 11 towns and the cities of Lamitan and Isabela, helping improve the investment climate in the province, he said.
A transnational outfit, the Unifrutti Company, and local groups are now setting up a 1,000-hectare Cavendish banana plantation in Lamitan City and another farm just as large in Tairan area in Lantawan, Basilan.
“Let’s face it. Not all employees in the provincial government are computer literate. We are addressing this issue now,” Salliman said in a press statement Friday.
He said he has directed all information technology experts in the provincial government to device measures that could promote computer literacy among personnel of the procvincial government.
