BARMM exec collects, disposes garbage in Isabela City during free time
COTABATO CITY --- There is a member of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao parliament, preacher Alzad Sattar, who engages in community work beyond BARMM duties.
Sattar of Basilan province is often seen collecting garbage for disposal along streets in Isabela City during free time despite his being a member of the BARMM parliament.
He belongs to the Basilan Ulama Supreme Council that actively supports the cleanup drive in Isabela City of newcomers Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin Hataman and Vice Mayor Kifli Salliman.
Isabela City residents close to him said it is Sattar’s way of encouraging Muslim communities to help the new city administration maintain cleanliness in the surroundings in keeping with Islamic teachings on hygiene and sanitation.
Sattar was the assistant secretary for Madaris education of the now defunct Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao prior to his membership in the BARMM parliament via an appointment from Malacañang.
The 29-year-old ARMM was replaced with BARMM last February based on peace agreements reached by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and the national government during 22 years of talks aimed at putting a negotiated closure to the nagging Mindanao secessionist rebellion.
