Banga legislators almost trade blows during session
BANGA,
South Cotabato – Two local legislators here almost trade blows during a recent
deliberation on the proposed budget for the procurement of a prime mover,
police documents showed.
They
simply traded harsh words with one lawmaker threatening the other.
The
Banga police station log book showed the personalities involved were Councilor
Arnel Wanan, an Indigenous People Mandatory Representative (IPMR) and Councilor
Alex Garcia, both members of Banga Sangguniang Bayan.
Wanan
told police investigators Garcia almost hit him during deliberation on the
proposed fund allocation. He did not say what triggered the heated argument.
Cooler
heads prevailed and the two backed off. The incident transpired inside the Sangguniang
Bayan session hall on October 21, 2015.
Wanan,
convinced he had done nothing wrong, went to the police station the next day and
put on record the incident.
Wanan
also told police that another colleague, a certain Councilor Corneta, phoned
him warning the he should not return to the session because Garcia was really
fuming mad.
Wanan
also reported to police that Garcia threw sarcastic words to his brotther,
Rolando Labwayan Wanan, 22.
Where
is your brother? Tell him I am ready whenever and wherever we meet,” Wanan quoted
Garcia as telling his brother.
