MANILA – A low pressure area (LPA) was detected east of Mindanao and may develop into a tropical depression in two days, the state weather bureau said Thursday.

In the 10 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA was estimated 1,010 kilometers east of Mindanao, which will bring light to moderate rains in several regions.

PAGASA also cautioned affected regions of possible hazards like landslides in the next 24 hours.

MANILA – Some areas in the country will experience rains caused by two weather systems, the weather bureau said Wednesday.

In its 5 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecast scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the province of Aurora, the northern portion of Quezon, and the regions of Bicol and Eastern Visayas due to the shear line.

The same weather condition will prevail over Caraga, Davao region, and Soccsksargen due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).

MANILA – Typhoon Karding slightly intensified as it is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Monday night, the weather bureau said.

"Karding" now packs maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center, and gustiness of up to 170 kph. 

No tropical cyclone wind signal was hoisted on any part of the country.

The typhoon was last located 425 kilometers west of Dagupan City, Pangasinan, moving westward at 30 kph.

MANILA -- Fair weather will prevail over the Visayas and Mindanao, but rains are likely in the afternoon, a forecaster said Tuesday.

"The Visayas and Mindanao will have fair weather in the morning. Chances of thunderstorms and rains are forecast in the afternoon," Aldczar Aurelio of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

Zamboanga and Davao's temperature will reach up to 33 °C; Tacloban, Iloilo and Cebu's temperature is up to 32 °C.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will be experienced over Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Oriental.

"In Luzon, fair weather will prevail, with isolated rains due to thunderstorms," Aldczar Aurelio of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

"Because of the easterlies, most areas in the country will experience warm and fair weather. Light rains will be experienced over Batanes and Babuyan Islands due to the northeasterly surface windflow.

MANILA – The trough of a low pressure area (LPA) will bring rains over Eastern and Central Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao and Davao Region, the weather bureau said on Monday.

"This LPA is not expected to go near or enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility. However, this will bring rains over a huge part of Mindanao and some parts of the Visayas," Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecaster Grace Castañeda said in the agency's 5 a.m. weather bulletin.

MANILA – The Duterte government continues to keep close tabs on the movement of Tropical Storm (TS) Jolina, Malacañang assured the public on Tuesday.

In an online presser, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said all frontline government agencies have already taken adequate preparations to provide assistance to people residing in areas that will be hit by TS Jolina.

“Handa po tayo. Nandiyan po ang lahat ng tulong, naka-preposition na (We are ready. The assistance is there and has already been preposition),” Roque said.
