Landmark river in west coast of Maguindanao

DATU BLAH SINSUAT, Maguindanao --- The mighty Matuber River is a landmark in this coastal municipality.

It has picturesque stretches close to one spot in the coastline of the seaside Datu Blah Sinsuat town, most known by its acronym DBS, in Maguindanao province.

DBS, a peaceful town, is now touted as the new fishing capital of Maguindanao.

BARMM honors 14th century foreign Islamic missionary 

COTABATO CITY --- The Bangsamoro government capped off with a “Guinakit” fluvial parade its commemoration on Sunday of the arrival here in the 14th century of Shariff Mohammad Kabunsuan from Johore Bahru, now part of Malaysia.

Kabunsuan, an Islamic preacher of mixed Arab and Malay descent, was responsible for organizing the first ever Muslim communities in pagan settlements in what is now Cotabato City and neighboring provinces.

MTIT-BARMM gears up for grandiose Shariff Kabunsuan festival

COTABATO CITY  – After two years of hiatus, the Bangsamoro Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), through the Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism (MTIT) will commemorate the arrival of Islam in mainland Mindanao.

The activity for the annual Shariff Kabunsuan Festival will commence on December 15.

It will be a series of events to be highlighted by the “Guinakit” fluvial parade or the reenactment of the arrival of Missionary from Johore Shariff Mohammad Kabunsuan via the Rio Grande de Mindanao.

NCAA, NEDA disseminates importance of RA 10066 forward

KORONADAL CITY --- Stakeholders are again generating public awareness on the importance of the Republic Act 10066 in preserving national heritage.

In a press statement Thursday, the National Economic Development Development-Authority-12 said the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, as part of its continuing collaboration with different Regional Development Councils and other stakeholders, held last July 7 a video conference on the intricacies of the RA 10066.

Cartoon characters in SoCot Christmas festival wow public

KORONADAL CITY - Cartoons are not just for kids anymore.

The South Cotabato Provincial government understands that all too well by showcasing animated cartoon characters in this year’s “Thematic Lights Competition.”

Iconic cartoon characters like SpongeBob, Mickey Mouse, Alice in Wonderland, Hello Kitty, and Tinker Bell went to the Christmas village at the provincial capitol.

This coincides with an “Animated Christmas” theme of the province’s December Fest 2019 that kicked off with a variety show at the provincial capitol compound here on Monday.

The light is on for Soccsksargen's tallest Christmas tree

"That Christmas tree is not ordinary, not because it's taller than the city hall, it symbolizes many things, it symbolizes our towering dreams and aspirations," Koranadal City Mayor Eliordo Ogena on the lighting of the 120-feet tall Christmas tree adorned with 2,500 lanterns made by city's tribal people.

Tampakan lights tallest X'mas tree using recyclable materials

KORONADAL CITY - The local govenrment of Tampakan, South Cotabato has put up the province's and probably the region's tallest Christmas tree made of plastic recyclable materials.

The 100-feet Christmas tree was lighted up Tuesday night.

Kidapawan dancers rule Australia dance tilt

KIDAPAWAN CITY  — A group of local dancers from this city was adjudged over all champion during the World Supremacy Battle Ground dance competition, winning gold medals in the tilt held in Sydney, Australia on Sunday.

These young dancers composed mostly of high school students and some professionals flew to Australia to represent, not only Kidapawan City, but also bringing with them the Philippine flag as it was the only group from the country that qualified in the world competition.
