P3.4-M worth of shabu for QC intercepted at Zambo airport 

CAMP SK PENDATUN, Maguindanao - Authorities foiled Monday an attempt to ship from Zamboanga City P3.4 million worth of shabu to a consignee in Quezon City, a report reaching the Bangsamoro regional police office here stated.

The report said the package was consigned to a certain Dayana Ismael, whose address in the waybill of the JRS forwarding firm is Philcoa, Commonwealth, Quezon City.  

The waybill also indicated that the package, containing 500 grams of shabu, was shipped to Ismael by an alleged resident of Maluso town in Basilan named Farhana Maddih.

18 rescued from Sulu sea mishap  

COTABATO CITY --- Emergency responders rescued 18 passengers of an outrigger boat that capsized some two miles from the shores of the seaside Maimbung town in Sulu on Saturday.

In a statement Sunday, the Sulu Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said the rescued boat passengers are residEnts of Talipao, supposedly bound for Tapul to attend an important clan gathering.

Tapul is an island town which is quite distant from Patikul municipality in mainland Sulu province.

P439,167 worth of imported cigarettes seized from 3 storeowners

COTABATO CITY - The police confiscated P439,167 worth of smuggled cigarettes from three storeowners who fell in separate entrapment operations in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay Saturday.

Lt. Col. Cyrus Belarmino of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-9 said Sunday the suspects, Ebelini Muhammad Marusi, 40, Armand Akuk Sahid, 21, and the 51-year-old Jerry Jul Allani, are now detained.

They were arrested one after another in stings in three different barangays in Ipil, capital town of Zamboanga Sibugay.

Slain Lamitan City ex-mayor laid to rest

COTABATO CITY - Hundreds of mourners joined the funeral rite for the slain Lamitan City Mayor Rose Furigay Wednesday.

Personnel of the Lamitan City Health Office told reporters hundreds more had wanted to participate in the event, but were immediately restrained as part of the local government unit’s anti-COVID-19 protocols.

Officials of the Basilan Provincial Police Office, local executives from across the province and representatives from the military’s Western Mindanao Command and different law-enforcement agencies attended the religious activity.

P700k worth of dried shark fins seized in GenSan

GEN. SANTOS CITY - Police forces of Police Regional Office (PROP-12) under the leadership of Brigl Gen. Alexander Tagum implemented a search warrant against an illegal seller of dried shark fins in Teresita Street, Purok Carmenville, Barangay Calumpang, General Santos City on July 30, 2022.

Recovered from the suspect, Arjun Tabudlong Polancos, were six plastic containers containing suspected dried shark fins weighing more or less 100 kilograms with estimated value of P700,000 and one weighing scale.

Shabu, assault rifles seized from 3 slain suspects in Tawi-Tawi

COTABATO CITY - Policemen seized more than P300,000 worth of shabu from three dealers killed in a 20-minute gunfight in Tandubas island town in Tawi-Tawi Sunday.

Brig. Gen. Arthur Cabalona, director of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, said Monday the suspects, armed with M14 and M16 assault rifles, fired at the team approaching their hideout, sparking a gunfight that left the three of them dead.

Merchant arrested for assault rifle possession

LANAO DEL SUR - The police detained a resident of Malabang town in this province from whose car policemen in a roadside checkpoint found an assault rifle Thursday.

Col. Jibin Bongcayao, Lanao del Sur police director, said Alvinzer Matling Alauya is now in the custody of the Malabang Police Station, to be prosecuted for possession of an unlicensed assault rifle.

PRO-12 members cautioned against partisan activities

GENERAL SANTOS CITY --- The leadership of the Police Regional Office-12 warned on Thursday members of the force against engaging in partisan activities of local executives.

Brig. Gen. Alexander Tagum, director of PRO-12, said Thursday the policy is in compliance with the instruction of Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos for Philippine National Police personnel to distance themselves from political activities.

“There is no problem with us adhering to that directive. We shall obey,” Tagum said.

Municipal election officer in Basilan shot dead

COTABATO CITY - Gunmen shot dead in a daring attack Tuesday the election officer of the politically-hostile Al-Barka town in Basilan.

Initial reports reaching the headquarters of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in nearby Parang, Maguindanao said Ruayna Sayyadi died instantly from gunshot wounds.

2 dead, 2 hurt in General Santos ambush

GENERAL SANTOS CITY - Ambushers on motorcycles shot dead two Moro men and wounded two others in a daring attack in Barangay Bawing here Sunday.

Victims Johnrey Samad Banto and Sari Aminola Kalamongi died on the spot from multiple bullet wounds.

In an initial statement Monday, the Tambler Police Station of the General Santos City Police Office said the duo’s companions, Uday Acad and Ressan Alawadi Uday, were badly wounded in the attack.

They are now confined in a hospital, according to the local police.
