Most wanted person in Region 12 falls in Matalam

GEN. SANTOS CITY - Strengthened and intensified campaign against the suppression of notorious wanted criminals in region led to the arrest of the Top 1 most wanted criminal in Region 12 in Purok 1, Brgy. Lampayan, Matalam, Cotabato on February 18, 2023.

Operatives from Matalam MPS, CPPO served the warrant of arrest against Teodoro Mataco Tongon, 57 years old, farmer, and resident of the aforementioned place.

Local sectors bewail ambush of 3 children in Pikit

COTABATO CITY - Various sectors are ranting on the death of a 13-year-old boy in the latest gun attack in the troubled Pikit town in Cotabato that left two other 12-year-old children wounded.

Classes in the troubled Pikit town in Cotabato are suspended Wednesday until Friday following the incident that shook the communities in the hostile Pikit town to the core.

Tricycle driver dead in latest Pikit gun attack

COTABATO CITY --- Gunmen shot dead on Monday morning a tricycle driver in the troubled Pikit town, where some 40 people have perished in wanton gun attacks since 2021.

Responding probers initially identified the slain tricycle driver as Dodong Gonzales, shot dead while about to unload something from his tricycle along a busy street in Pikit, located in the first district of Cotabato.

Bloody feud among Basilan MNLF, MILF groups settled

COTABATO CITY ---- Two rival groups in Lamitan City forged a truce Friday, ending years of animosity that exacted fatalities on both sides.

The leaders of the two groups, Rajan Abdulrahman of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and Mohammad Muddalan, a senior member of the Moro National Liberation Front, reconciled through the intercession of the Lamitan City local government unit and other peace advocacy groups in Basilan province.

MIPA BARMM mid-level official shot dead in Cotabato City

KINILALA ang nasawing biktima na si Jocelyn Samar Palao, division chief ng Ministry of Indigenous People’s Affairs o MIPA BARMM na taga Timanan, South Upi, Maguindanao.

Ayon kay Police Precinct 2 Commander Major Amil Andungan Jr, naganap ang pamamaril sa bahagi ng San Pablo Village, Barangay Rosary Heights 11, Cotabato City mag-aalas 6:00 ng gabi araw ng Martes.

Hindi naman natamaan ang dalawang kasama ng biktima na si Jimmy Benito na taga Timanan, South Upi at Nurudin Zacaria na residente ng San Pablo Subdivision, Rosary Heights XI, Cotabato City.

Marine sergeant shot dead in Cotabato City

COTABATO CITY --- Two men shot dead a member of the Philippine Marine Corps in a daring attack here on Sunday morning.

Major John Vincent Bravo, chief of the Police Precinct 1 here under the Cotabato City Police Office, identified the fatality as Marine Sgt. Rodolfo Magno.

Magno died from bullet wounds in the head and upper torso.

Magno was in his Toyota Vios car, parked along the Moreno Drive in Dapdap area here, waiting for his wife who was buying something at a roadside stall, when two men approached and shot him with .45 caliber pistols.

Grenade blast rocks premises of Carmen police station

COTABATO CITY --- Two men riding a motorcycle together set off a grenade near the entrance to the municipal police station in Carmen town in Cotabato late Thursday, causing panic among residents.

In a statement Friday, the Carmen municipal police said no one was hurt in the explosion but the bombing sent people around running for their lives.

Probers are still trying to identify the bombers, who immediately sped away after one of them hurled the fragmentation grenade near the entrance to the police station.

Autopsy on remains of 3 teens in Lambayong shooting out soon, legal counsel says

COTABATO CITY  – The autopsy reports on the remains of three teenagers slain during law enforcement operation in Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat will soon come out as Sen. Robin Padilla has called for deeper probe on the incident.

Atty. Ronald Torres, lead legal counsel of the victims’ families, said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) chemists have completed the forensic examination and may release its findings in a week or two.

On Tuesday, Torres met anew with the families of slain teenagers to provide updates on the ongoing probe by various investigating agencies.

Soldier form Awang, Maguindanao shot, hurt fellow soldier

COTABATO CITY – An Army private was injured after he was shot by his colleague in Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur over the weekend, the police today said.

In a belated report Brig. General Neil Alinsañgan, police director for Zamboanga peninsula, identified the victim as Private First Class Albert Alain, 25, of the 549th Engineering Battalion base in Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte and the suspect as Corporal Erwin Quevbe.

Both Alain and Queve belonged to the 549th Army Engineering Battalion based in Camp Siongco, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.
