Official statement of UBJP Sec. Gen. Atty. Naguib Sinarimbo on party stance endorsing VP Robredo: 

The United Bangsamoro Justice Party, a political party organized by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, endorsed today Leni Robredo as its Presidential candidate for the May 9, 2022 elections. The Vice President visited Camp Darapanan today where a simple program proclaiming her as the candidate of the UBJP for President was held followed by a Press Conference which we facilitated.

Local execs mount peace efforts as polling day comes near

COTABATO CITY --- Officials reiterated Saturday their appeals for voters to support the security efforts of the Commission on Elections in line with the May 9, 2022 polls, barely 16 days away.

The re-electionist Lanao del Sur Gov. Mamintal Adiong, Jr. said he had urged his constituent-mayors and the local Islamic religious community to help the police and the military guard the May 9 elections against saboteurs.

“While that is quite remote, we should not be complacent,” Adiong said.

PNP reminds candidates to coordinate with authorities

MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) urged candidates in this year's elections and the public to coordinate with authorities for their security and safety.

"We would like to remind our candidates and the public at large na importante ang koordinasyon (that it is important to coordinate with authorities), so the PNP can provide security assistance para maiwasan na mangyari ang kahit anong kaguluhan (to avoid any trouble)," PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba said in a statement issued Tuesday evening.

BARMM PNP form special task groups for May 9 polls

COTABATO CITY – Police authorities in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) have created two special operations task groups to help ensure peaceful and orderly national and local elections.

Brig. Gen. Arthur R Cabalona, Police Regional Office (PRO)-BARMM director, said Tuesday the task groups were created specifically for Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur provinces, where some places categorized by police as “areas of concern” have been identified.

Comelec urged to declare 300 places as ‘areas of concern’

MANILA – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Thursday said there are some 300 places in the country that may be declared as areas of concern in relation to the upcoming May 9 elections.

Commissioner George Garcia said the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) have recommended that the areas be declared as areas of concern.

"As of today, there are recommendations submitted to us. But there is yet a Comelec resolution formally declaring these as areas of concern," he said in a press briefing Thursday in Manila.

2 cities, 16 towns in BARMM listed as “hot spot areas”

CAMP SK PENDATUN, Maguindanao  – Following a series of assessment and evaluation as well as sharing of intelligence information with the military, police authorities in the Bangsamoro Autononous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) have identified 16 towns and two cities as “hot spot areas” in the region during election season.

Named as “red code” areas are towns and cities where violence in previous elections, intense political rivalry and presence of threat armed groups and terrorist organizations exist in these areas.

MANILA – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Thursday warned local chief executives not to allow the use of resources of local government units (LGU) in election campaign activities.

In a radio interview, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said they have received reports of candidates using government vehicles and other resources in their campaign sorties across the country.
