Dad-son tandem won, proclaimed in Maguindanao

A father-son tandem won in a landslide fashion and proclaimed as mayor-elect and vice mayor-elect, respectively, of Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao.

Rowaida Kalid, municipal election officer and chairperson of the town’s board of canvassers, said she proclaimed at 10 a.m. on Tuesday Datu Akmad Mitra Ampatuan as mayor and his son incumbent Mayor Engr. Marop Ampatuan as vice mayor.

Engr. Marop served as local chief executive of Shariff Aguak since 2016.

Efren Piñol, proclaimed as vice governor-elect of North Cotabato

KIDAPAWAN CITY - The provicinal board of canvassers of North Cotabato has proclaimed former town Mayor Efren Piñol as vice governor-elect during proclamation of winning provincial candidates of North Cotabato.   

Piñol lauded all those who voted for him and all his campaign team, to include his family, relatives and friends.

"Sa ngalan sa akong pamilya, ako nagapasalamat sa inyong mapinadayunon ug kinasingkasing na pagsuporta sa akong kandidatura.  Ang akong kadaugan mao ang kadaugan natong tanan," he said in a statement posted on his FB page.

Comelec declares 'failure of elections' in 3 Lanao del Sur towns

MANILA – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Wednesday declared “failure of elections” in the municipalities of Tubaran, Binidayan, and Butig in the province of Lanao del Sur.

In a resolution released to the media, Deputy Director Executive for Operations Teopisto E. Elnas Jr. recommended the conduct of special elections in a total of 14 villages in Lanao del Sur, 12 of which from Tubaran, and one barangay each from Butig and Binidayan.

Cotabato City has new mayor, vice mayor, 8 new, 2 reelected councilors

COTABATO CITY -- The infant political party of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front made history with the election of its candidates for mayor and vice mayor here, defeating rivals via an uphill campaign struggle.

The mayoral candidate of the United Bangsamoro Justice Party, Bruce Dela Cruz Matabalao, was proclaimed Tuesday night by city poll officials at the Sangguniang Panglunsod session hall here.

Matabalao defeated in the May 9 mayoral race here the re-electionist Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi, a vocal critic of the MILF-led Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Lamitan City vice mayor proclaimed mayor-elect

COTABATO CITY --- Poll officials proclaimed late Tuesday Vice Mayor Roderick Furigay as mayor-elect of Lamitan City.

The three-termer vice mayor defeated in last Monday’s election a less popular rival, Al-Rasheed Sakallahul.

Furigay’s running mate, incumbent Lamitan City councilor Hegem Furigay, was also proclaimed elected vice mayor by city poll officials.

The duo promised to serve extensively the residents of Lamitan City, which has more than 40 barangays.

Datu Pax Ali Mangudadatu, proclaimed Sultan Kudarat governor-elect

ISULAN, SULTAN KUARAT - The Commission on Elections provincial board of canvassers on Tuesday night proclaimed Governor-elect Datu Pax Ali Mangudadatu.

His parents, Sultan Kudarat Gov. Suharto Mangudadatu and Maguindanao Gov. Bai Mariam Mangudadatu were present to witness the proclamation.

7 men charged for mauling poll officer, 2 watchers in Maguindanao

COTABATO CITY  – Police authorities in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) have filed criminal charges and for violation of Omnibus Election Code against seven persons for mauling of a poll official and watchers in Datu Piang, Maguindanao.

On Wednesday, Brig. Gen. Arthur Cabalona, BARMM police regional director, said the seven suspects whose identities were withheld for security reasons, are now locked up at Datu Piang municipal police station.

22 votes made veterinary doctor a mayor in Maguindanao

COTABATO CITY  – A mayoral aspirant of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF’s) United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) was declared and proclaimed winner by the Commission on Elections Monday with only 22 votes over his closest rival.

Veterinary Dr. Zulficar “Doc Bong” Panda was proclaimed winner by the municipal board of canvassers at the town’s Sangguniang Bayan session hall at 11 a.m. today.

Panda got 5,817 votes or 22 voters over mayoral candidate Armando Talib Mastura Jr of PDP-Laban who got 5,795 votes.

Piñol concedes defeat, vows to push bamboo greening program

COTABATO CITY  – Senatorial aspirant Emmanuel Piñol today conceded defeat but vowed to continue his advocacy on agriculture as private person.

In a statement released to public a day after the country’s national and local elections chose set of new leaders, Piñol, former secretary of the agriculture and chair of Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) said the people have spoken.

“The Filipino people have spoken, new leaders to lead this country in the coming three years,” he said in Filipino.
