12 terrorist group combatants yield to Army in Maguindanao

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – Twelve more members of the terrorist group have voluntarily surrendered and turned in their firearms to the troops of 6th Infantry Battalion and 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion, respectively, all under the 601st Infantry Brigade on Friday and Saturday (August 12 and 13, 2022.)

3 from ISIS-inspired groups yield in Maguindanao

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao - Three members of local terror groups surrendered Friday in Datu Piang town.

Amin and Torren from the Dawlah Islamiya and Mangandili of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters yielded and pledged allegiance to the government through the efforts of local officials and Lt. Col. Glen Manansala of the Army’s 6th Infantry Battalion.

The surrender rite was held in Datu Piang town in the second district of Maguindanao.

New 6th ID head to support Malacañang-Moro peace process

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao - The new commander of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division assured to support Malacañang’s peace process for Moro communities as he assumed central Mindanao’s top military post Thursday.

Major Gen. Roy Galido was installed commander of 6th ID by the chief of the Philippine Army, Lt. Gen. Romeo Brawner, Jr., during a simple rite in this camp on Thursday morning.

Galido took over 6th ID’s leadership from his classmate in the Philippine Military Academy, Major Gen. Roberto Capulong.

COTABATO CITY -- Among the concerns the new 6th Infantry Division Commander needs to address first are the reintegration to society of former state enemies and the need for outreach missions for impoverished communities.

6ID lady soldiers lead peace ops in Central Mindanao

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – Task Group Bangis (TGB), the newly formed peacekeeping unit of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division (ID), has fielded female soldiers in the forefront of their peace missions in Central Mindanao.

Lt. Col. Michael Angelo Candole, the TGB commander, said the female soldiers will regularly accompany the Army in their humanitarian endeavors in the far-flung areas.

Police, Army tightens guard against 2 terror groups

COTABATO CITY - Authorities are bracing for attacks by two local terror groups in what could be desperate attempts to project strength following the deaths of nine bomb-makers from both sides in clashes with pursuing soldiers since January.

More than a hundred members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters and the Dawlah Islamiya have also surrendered in batches since November 2021 through the efforts of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division and the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.

Tip-off leads to arrest of communist rebel in SoCot

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – Acting on a tip from civilians, government troops captured a communist rebel and seized two firearms from him during an operation in T’boli, South Cotabato, the Army said Tuesday.

Lt. Col. Zandro Alvez, the Army's 5th Special Forces Battalion commander, said an M16 rifle and a .38-caliber revolver were seized from alias “Bambam,” a member of New Peoples’ Army (NPA) under the Guerilla Front Musa, at his safe house in Barangay Laconon Monday afternoon.

5 BIFF lay down guns, rejoin mainstream in North Cotabato

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao – Five more lawless armed men renounced on Wednesday their membership with the outlawed BIFF-Karialan Faction and pledged allegiance to the government bringing their firearms and high explosives during a simple presentation held at the Headquarters of 602nd Infantry (Liberator) Brigade in Camp Lucero, Barangay Poblacion, Carmen, Cotabato morning of July 20, 2022.

2 of 5 Abus who surrendered in Sulu bomb-makers

CAMP SK PENDATUN, Maguindanao - Two of the five Abu Sayyaf members who surrendered in Sulu last Sunday are experts in fabrication of improvised explosive devices, local officials said Tuesday. 

The five men, initially identified only as Bennajir, Monib, Abdurahsi, Rudy and Sattari pending their relocation to areas far from reach by hardcore Abu Sayyaf members, surrendered to the 45th Infantry Battalion.

The terror group has a reputation for its brutality on members who have returned to the fold of law and their families. 

12 Dulangan-Manobo NPA members surrender to 6th ID

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao --- Twelve more New People’s Army guerillas, three of them Dulangan-Manobo datus, bolted from the group Sunday.

The 12 NPAs operated in hinterlands in the adjoining Lebak, Kalamansig and Palimbang towns in Sultan Kudarat, bastions of the Teduray and Dulangan-Manabo indigenous communities.
