Woman charged for terrorism financing nabbed in Kalamansig

GEN. SANTOS CITY - Law enforcement agencies executed a warrant of arrest in Barangay Poblacion, Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat, resulting in the apprehension of Aileen Manipol Villarosa, 41 years old and a resident of Purok Palmera, Barangay Sta. Clara, Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat on July 1, 2023.

Ms. Villarosa, a NGO worker affiliated with Rural Missionaries of the Philippines - Northern Mindanao Region, was taken into custody as per the warrant issued for her arrest.

Growing skeptic, 3 NPA rebels yield in N. Cotabato

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao Norte – Saying they have had enough of the difficult life in the mountains, three communist New People's Army (NPA) rebels voluntarily surrendered in North Cotabato province, the military here said Friday.

Maj. Gen. Alex Rillera, the Army’s 6th Infantry Division commander, identified the surrenderers only as “Emman,” “Oscar,” and “Bobong.”

They belonged to the NPA Guerilla Front 53, Sub-Regional Committee 3, Southern Mindanao Regional Committee.

Moro couple killed in Maguindanao Sur ambush

COTABATO CITY - Gunmen killed a Moro couple in an ambush in Shariff Aguak town in Maguindanao del Sur at dusk Thursday, an attack that caused panic among villagers.

Major Haron Macabanding, Shariff Aguak municipal police chief, told reporters Friday Nokoy Abdul, 54, and his 49-year-old spouse, Siaya, both died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds.

They were together in their tricycle, on their way home from the town proper of Shariff Aguak, when their attackers, positioned along their route in Barangay Labu-Labu Mother, opened fire, killing them instantly.

More than 5k civilians flee police ops vs. ex-mayor in Sulu

COTABATO CITY – The police operation against a former town mayor in Sulu who have search warrants rose to more than 5,000, the social welfare office in Sulu said.

In his social media post, Member of Parliament Nabil Tan reported that many of the displaced families Matatal Gym, Maimbung, Sulu. Most of them from Bualo Lipid who fled their homes firefight erupted between government forces and armed followers of former Maimbung Vice Mayor Pando Mudjasan.

Thousands of Tausugs displaced by Sulu gunfights

COTABATO CITY - Some 3,000 Tausug villagers got displaced by the gunfights on Saturday in Maimbung, Sulu between followers of a former vice mayor and government troops that left a policeman dead and hurt 14 others.

Brig. Gen. Allan Nobleza, director of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, said Sunday their units in Sulu have tapped the support of local leaders in diffusing tension in Barangay Bualo Lipid, scene of Saturday’s clashes between government troops and the group of the recalcitrant former Maimbung Vice Mayor Pando Mudjasan.

7 cops, soldier hurt in clash with gunmen in Sulu 

COTABATO CITY - Seven policemen and a soldier got hurt in a bungled attempt to arrest Saturday in Maimbung town in Sulu a former vice mayor long wanted for heinous criminal offenses.

The Sulu Provincial Police Office, in a report to Brig. Gen. Allan Nobleza, director of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region here, said soldiers and policemen were to serve former Maimbung Vice Mayor Pando Mudjasan warrants of arrest for various cases pending in different courts but he and his followers, armed with assault rifles resisted, provoking a gunfight.

MILF infighting leaves 3 dead in Maguindanao Sur

AMPATUAN, Maguindanao Sur  – Fighting erupted anew between members of Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in remote villages here Tuesday morning, the Army said.

“We are validating this report, but initially reports showed three were reported killed in the on-going skirmishes,” said Brig. Gen. Oriel Pangcog, commander of 601st Infantry Brigade based here.

Pangcog said the skirmishes that started at 9 a.m. today in the adjoining Barangay Dapiawan, Datu Saudi Ampatuan and Barnagay Pamalian, Shariff Saydona town, both in Maguindanao del Sur, sent civilians fleeing.
