Focus on defeating the Armed Group - Army Chief

FORT BONIFACIO, Metro Manila – During his visit to the 6th Infantry Division and its operationally controlled units in Central Mindanao on October 26 and 27, the Commanding General, Philippine Army (CGPA) Lt. Gen. Andres Centino reiterated his guidance to all units to utilize Army's resources on defeating the Armed Group.

In his "Talk to Troops," the CGPA emphasized the need for the Philippine Army to manage its limited resources to achieve an optimum result.

DOST-12 assistant director wounded in gun attack

KORONADAL CITY --- A gunman shot and wounded the assistant director of the Department of Science and Technology-12 in an attack at a residential area here past 7:00 a.m. Wednesday.

Key sources from the Police Regional Office-12 said the 55-year-old Normina Pahm, who sustained a bullet wound in the shoulder, was immediately rushed to a hospital by responding barangay tanods and personnel of the Koronadal City Police.

Barangay kagawad, kasama niya, patay sa pamamaril sa Maguindanao

Army expecting surrender of more BIFF members

COTABATO CITY ---- The military is expecting the surrender soon of more members of the outlawed Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters.

Major. Gen. Juvymax Uy, commander of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division, said Tuesday their units in the adjoining provinces of Maguindanao and North Cotabato have been receiving surrender feelers from bandits who want to renounce their membership with the BIFF and return to the fold of law.

No fewer than 300 members of the BIFF have surrendered in batches to units of 6th ID since 2017.

Guard dead, two wounded Maguindanao gunfight

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao ---- The police and military are scrambling to disengage two armed groups that figured in a deadly gunfight Thursday in Datu Anggal Midtimbang town.

The incident resulted in the death of a certain Canapia, a security guard of the Amavi Cavendish Banana Plantation in Brar, Datu Anggal Midtimbang, and left two others, Datun Pagayao and a certain Kautin, wounded.  

7 from NPA `extortion group’ yield to 6th ID

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao ---The seven New People’s Army from Sultan Kudarat province who surrendered Sunday belonged to a group collecting “protection money” from traders and ordinary people.

Major Gen. Juvymax Uy, commander of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division, said Tuesday the seven NPAs, whose names he withheld pending their relocation to safe areas, yielded through the intercession of officials of the 7th Infantry Battalion and the 601st Infantry Brigade.

Basilan PPOC wants closure on ambush of poll official 

COTABATO CITY --- The chairperson of Basilan’s provincial peace and order council, Gov. Jim Salliman, reiterated Wednesday his appeal to authorities to put a closure to Monday’s ambush of an election officer in the province.

“We condemn the incident and call again on the police and the military to help each other identify and file appropriate charges against the culprits,” Salliman said in a statement, speaking as chairperson of PPOC.

Couple killed, 5 hurt in Bukidnon grenade blast

COTABATO CITY --- A man gone berserk killed himself and his wife and hurt five neighbors with a fragmentation grenade on Saturday in Malaybalay City in Bukidnon province.

The fatalities, Jojit,Leona, 44, and his 35-year-old wife, Remalyn, died on the spot from shrapnel wounds in different parts of their bodies.

Neighbors first heard the couple quarreling loudly before an explosion ripped through their house in Barangay Casisang in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.

Army seized guns from village official's vehicle in NoCot

TROOPS seized five firearms -- one low-powered and four high-powered -- while conducting security operations in Pikit, North Cotabato, military officials announced.

Major General Alfredo Rosario, Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) chief, said the firearms were seized by joint elements of the 90th Infantry Battalion and 3rd Cavalry Company on Tuesday, October 5, while providing area security assistance to the Commission on Elections office at Pikit Municipal Hall.

South Cotabato residents turn over explosives to police

KORONADAL CITY --- Three residents of South Cotabato province separately turned over to the police a mortar round, a 40 millimeter explosive projectile and a rifle grenade on Wednesday.

Farmer Allan Abellana found half buried in mud in his papaya farm in Barangay Kablon in Tupi town in South Cotabato the live 60 millimeter mortar round that he turned over to the local police.
