Peaceful protest turns violent, 2 die, dozens hurt

KIDAPAWAN CITY -- A protester was killed while at least 10 farmers were wounded when the local police conducted what they termed was a law enforcement operation against those holding a barricade which made the Makilala-Kidapawan highway close for traffic for at least three days.
Including those wounded was Sheena Duazo of the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN). She was hit on head by a stone thrown against her during the dispersal.

order to thousands of farmers camping along portions of the national highway were
attack by protesters, turning what was envisioned to be a peaceful dispersal into

Women's rights awareness highlights Women's Month celebration in ARMM

Awareness of women’s rights highlighted this year’s regional celebration of the
National Women’s Month, an event led by the Regional Human Rights Commission in
the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (RHRC-ARMM).

The
celebration was attended by more than 100 participants – mostly women from Datu
Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao – and was held at the town's gymnasium on Tuesday.
