6 arrested, guns, grenades seized in Cotabato City anti illegal drug raid

COTABATO
CITY – Six persons were arrested by joint government law
enforcers in an intensified anti-illegal drug operation in a remote village here
Tuesday, authorities said.
The
raid was conducted by joint elements of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in
the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao(PDEA-ARMM), Army Special Forces and
Cotabato City police in a drug den in Purok Dumpsite, Malagapas, Barangay

Fire destroys Koronadal Church, 5 other houses

KORONADAL CITY – Two separate fire incidents destroyed a Church and five other houses
in two villages here past midnight Wednesday, fire officials said.

Joriel Rodel of Koronadal City fire office said arson investigation showed
the 1:45 a.m. fire started from a dirty kitchen at the back of Christian Brethren
Church along Suscano Street, Barangay Morales, Koronadal City.

6 sawmill workers abducted in Lanao Sur

ZAMBOANGA CITY - Six workers of a sawmill were seized Monday by a group of gunmen in Butig, Lanao del Sur, a military official disclosed Tuesday.Maj. Filemon Tan, Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) information officer, disclosed the incident occurred around 11:00 a.m. Monday in Barangay Sandab Madaya, Butig, Lanao del Sur.Tan said the identities of the victims were not immediately available except for the fact that they are workers of a sawmill in the village of Sandab Madaya.

Cotabato City college IED blast hurts 3

COTABATO CITY -- Three students were injured when an improvised explosive device went off
Monday night inside the premier college here, police said.

The IED made
of flash powder, cut nails and a triggering device, was planted and set off at
11 p.m. under the grandstand where a battle of the band competition was held earlier.

Injured were
Neil Barasbaras Borja, 20, Dondon Jumalon Bangis, 25, Tyrone Sunico Jore, all
residents of Notre Dame Avenue, Cotabato City. They sustained injuries in
various parts of their legs.

DILG forms 2 fact-finding panels to probe Kidapawan dispersal

MANILA -- Interior and Local Government Secretary Mel Senen S. Sarmiento on Monday ordered the creation of two fact-finding panels to investigate the bloody confrontation between farmers and policemen in Kidapawan, North Cotabato Friday.Sarmiento said that the first panel, which will focus on the operational aspect of the dispersal, would be headed by the National Police Commission (Napolcom) under Commissioner Job M. Mangente and the second panel, which will focus on the local government units (LGUs), would be headed by Director Manuel Q.

Cops file charges vs Kidapawan protesters farmers file charges too

KIDAPAWAN CITY - – The North Cotabato police, led by provincial police director, Senior Superintendent Alex Tagum, filed on Monday several complaints against 43 protesters they arrested during the clearing operations along the Kidapawan highway last Friday. Charged were farmers coming from the towns of Arakan, Antipas, President Roxas, and Magpet, all in North Cotabato. The complaints were submitted to the Office of the City Prosecutor on Sunday.The following day, the Prosecutor presented the charges at the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 17 here.
