(UPDATE) PIKIT, North Cotabato - At least four persons were wounded when unidentified suspects, riding tandem on a motorbike, hurled a hand grenade in front of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP) here at past 7 p.m. tonight.An Army spot report said the explosion was caused by an M-79 grenade fired from a distance.Reports said the grenade exploded at the main entrance of the Church and left at least four persons.


Tribal groups fear Army presence in Magpet Nothing to worry, says Army

KIDAPAWAN CITY — Tribal groups have expressed anxiety regarding the presence of Philippine Army camps in at least 17 civilian communities in remote areas of Magpet and other nearby towns in North Cotabato. Violence vs. women, children rising in North Cotabato

– Police in North Cotabato said sexual assaults against women and minors are the
leading cases against women in the province this year.

At least 14
cases of violence against women have been reported during the third quarter of
2014, according to Cotabato Police Provincial Office o CPPO Women and
Children's Protection Desk Division Chief Senior Insp. Julie Melocotones.

6 hurt as pick-up truck smashes Kidapawan waiting shed

KIDAPAWAN CITY — Six persons were hurt when a pickup vehicle owned by a politician bumped the waiting shed beside the the Kidapawan-Magpet highway on Friday afternoon. Rickson Ajero, dxND Radyo-Bida technician who happened to be in the area when the incident happened, said the speeding vehicle was traversing the Magpet highway when its brake malfunctioned uponreaching Barangay Mateo in Kidapawan City. The driver can no longer control the vehicle until it bumped at the waiting shed,” Ajero said. Ajero said four persons who were sittingat the waiting shed were wounded.
