2 'habal-habal' drivers shot dead in Cotabato City

COTABATO CITY –
Two men working as habal-habal” drivers were shot dead by still unidentified
gunmen along a highway hereWednesday dawn, police said today.

Senior Inspector
Reynaldo Delantin, chief of Cotabato City police station 2, identified the victims
as Satar Tambas, 18 and Dagul Ali, 18, both residents of Barangay Bagua Mother,
Cotabato City.

Habal-habal”
is a motorbike used as passenger transport vehicle.

ARMM clears waterways of water lilies

COTABATO
CITY – The Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) started clearing
portions of the Rio Grande de Mindanao where water hyacinth had started to
build up since yesterday.

Lawyer
Laisa Alamia, ARMM executive secretary, said personnel from the region’s department
of public works, ARMM Humanitarian Emergency Action Response Team and
volunteers, have started clearing the Tamontaka River and Rio Grande de
Mindanao with water lilies that pose dangers to bridges and trigger floods to
low lying communities.

and they made it big. Three young and poor children in Maguindanao made their
community, as well as the country, proud by winning an international poster
making contest by the World Food Programme (WFP), defeating 127 contestants
from 245 schools in 27 countries.

Under tight guard, suspect in Koronadal pawnshop heist attends pre-trial

KORONADAL CITY
– A week after the court here postponed the pre-trail hearing of Khadaffy
Guiamelon due to bomb scare, the pre-trial went on Wednesday afternoon.

Guiamelon was
one of the six suspects in the September 18 daring robbery of Agencia
Brillantes pawnshop where two security guards were killed, four others were
wounded.

Security was
tight at the sala of Judge Lorenzo Balo of Regional Trial Court Branch 23.

Jail inmate hurts self in escape try, dies in Kidapawan hospital

KIDAPAWAN CITY
– A man who escaped from North Cotabato District Jail (NCDJ) eluded pursuing jail guards but died due to severe injuries after he fell off a
cliff during arrest operations in a village in Bukidnon, jail officials said.

Jesus Singson,
jail warden of NCDJ, said members of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology
and the police went to a place in Bukidnon where escapee Cresler Hernandez was
hiding to re-arrest him.
Hernandez was
from Alamada, North Cotabato.

Habal-Habal driver shot dead, suspect takes his motorbike

COTABATO CITY –
Unidentified gunman shot dead a motorcycle driver in Rosary Heights 2, Cotabato City Saturday, police said.

The suspect
also took the victim’s motorcycle, a yellow Honda XRM with license plate 9849
QM, according to Senior Insp. Efren Salazar.

He said the
suspect boarded the motorbike of Garry Lu, 44, resident of Sousa Street, Cotabato
City along Sinsuat Avenue at past 12 noon and asked to be brought at the back gate of Notre Dame University.

Cotelco signs contract for more power supply

KIDAPAWAN CITY - The Cotabato Electric Cooperative (Cotelco) is set to sign a contract with San Miguel Power Corporation (SPMC) for the 10 megawatt power supply.But Vincent Baguio, speaking for Cotelco-Main, said the 10 megawatt for North Cotabato power consumers will come from SPMC coal-fired power plant which will be operation next year yet. Baguio said the power procurement was part of Cotelco's efforts to meet the power demand of North Cotabato consumers. Signing will take place at Cotelco-Main office in Matalam, North Cotabato.

Cops arrest 2 hospitalized men for attempted murder, robbery

Two men riding tandem on a motorbike who figured in a vehicular accident were treated
at a government hospital here but with handcuffs.

This after a
man wounded in a shooting incident and rushed in the same hospital pointed to
them as the same persons who robbed and shot him on Monday afternoon along Don
Rufino Alonzo Avenue here, police said.
