Indian national in hot water after slapping Pinay in Kidapawan

KIDAPAWAN CITY – An Indian national engaged in money lending is in hot water after he was accused of slapping recently a Filipina clerk here for allegedly failing to pay her debt. Farmer hurt as grenade explodes in Pikit village

PIKIT, North Cotabato - A farmer was wounded when unidentified men tossed a hand grenade in the village of Kolambog Thursday night, police said.Senior Inspector Sindatu Karim, Pikit police chief, identified the victim as Elly Tanudtanud Canete, resident of Barangay Kolambog. Karim said the victim was with his friends at past 8 p.m. when the fragmentation grenade exploded.He said no one claimed responsibility and the motive remained unknown.

Yellow car with engine problem triggers panic along Cotabato City's busy street

COTABATO CITY - A yellow sedan car caused heavy traffic along Sinsuat Avenue here as commuters suspected it was a car bomb.Responding policemen and bomb experts cordoned off the area and rerouted traffic flow to check on the suspicious vehicle at about noon Friday.While bomb experts were checking on the car, its owner showed up and denied it was a car bomb. He told police that the car developed engine trouble so he left it to fetch a mechanic.

Choppers fly at night send jitters to city residents

COTABATO CITY – Almost every night in
the past week, military helicopters have been flying around the city and in the
coastal areas of Maguindanao, sending residnets to wonder what was it all
about.

Pigcawayan cops arrest man in illegal drug trade

North Cotabato – Police authorities arrested here Friday morning a man believed
to be involved in illegal drug trade.

Abas did not resist arrest when elements of Pigcawayan PNP and Regional Public
Safety Battalion of the PNP raided his home in Barangay Poblacion 2,
Pigcawayan, North Cotabato at 9 a.m.

Sr.
Inspector Donald Cabigas, Pigcawayan police chief, said the raiding team was armed
with arrest warrant and seized 17 heat sealed sachets of suspected methamphetamine
hydrochloride from Abas.

Maguindanao DepEd official finds grenade in her compound

COTABATO CITY –
Unidentified men tossed a hand grenade inside the residential compound of
Maguindanao schools division superintendent Meriam Kawit in Shariff Aguak,
Maguindanao Thursday.

The grenade
failed to explode and was safely defused by police and Army bomb experts.

Kawit found
the grenade at about 6 a.m. while she was on her way to the Maguindanao
provincial peace and order council meeting.
