Motorist dies in a highway mishap on All Souls' Day in South Cotabato

SURALLAH, South Cotabato -- A motorist was killed here after a three vehicle smash up in front of a public cemetery filled with commuters, cemetery goers and parked vehicles.Chief Inspector Joel Fuerte, Surallah town police chief, identified the fatality as Herman Panolino, 41, resident of Barangay Dumangas, Tboli, South Cotabato.Fuerte said Panolino was driving a motorcycle going to Tboli town and a Mitsubishi L-300 FB van (PJO-291)was tailing him.

Cops continue 'Oplan Tokhang' even during Undas, Region 12 religious activities generally peaceful

COTABATO CITY -- Even on All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day , police personnel in Cotabato City and Koronadal City continue to implement Oplan Tokhang, a police comprehensive anti-drug campaign, officials said.Across the region, Supt. KORONADAL CITY -- Five persons were hurt, two of them in critical condition at the time the nation remembers the dead after two motorcycles clashed here Tuesday afternoon.The accident site was near National Irrigation Administration office along the Barangay Carpenter national highway which had been a mute witness to various highway mishaps in the past.Due to serious injuries, the victims are now confined at South Cotabato provincial hospital.

KORONADAL CITY - For not paying his monetary debt to a co-inmate, a detainee of the South Cotabato provincial jail was stabbed Monday, jail officials said.Jail Warden Juan Lanzaderas said Jonathan Malantoc who was facing robbery with carnapping charges stabbed repeatedly his co-detainee Altani Dansalan. Lanzaderas said Dansalan owed Malantoc's OFW relative ofP10,000. Following the incident, jail officials confiscated bladed weapons from other inmates.

Gunman executes cop in front of wife

PIKIT, North Cotabato -- Unidentified gunman shot dead a police officer here in front of his wife early Monday morning.
Chief Inspector Bryan Placer, Pikit municipal police station chief, identified the victim as Police Officer 2 Abeking Dandan, assigned with the Pikit PNP investigation section.
Placer said Dandan was with his wife walking from police station toward the town public market when the suspect arrived and opened fire on him at about 4:10 a.m.
Dandan, a relative of former police chief of Pikit, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died on the spot.

Dimaukom supporters demand justice for slain mayor

DATU SAUDI AMPATUAN, Maguindanao -– Family,
supporters and sympathizers of slain Mayor Samsudin Dimaukom today strongly
condemned his death, describing it a rubout and overkill, and called for deep
probe.

Still, Dimaukom’s family is yet to decide whether to
