Oblate journo bags Globe Media Excellence Award

DAVAO CITY – Oblate journalist Malu Cadelina Manar, also director for operations of the AM programming of the Notre Dame Broadcasting Corporation (NDBC) in North Cotabato, bagged this year’s Globe Media Excellence Awards (GMEA) for Reporter of the Year for Radio.
Manar received the award, her first for GMEA, at the Marco Polo Hotel here, on November 22.

IED blast hits police patrol car in Maguindanao, nobody hurt

SHARIFF AGUAK,
Maguindanao – An improvised bomb was set off by still
unidentified men along the national here Tuesday night that damaged a police
patrol car, police said.

Nobody was
hurt in the blast in Barangay Satan, near the old Maguindanao provincial
capitol now the headquarters of an Army Mechanized Infantry Brigade.

Inspector
Rasul Pandulo, Maguindanao police spokesperson, said the IED fashioned from
powder with cut nails as shrapnel was set off at about 9 p.m.

(UPDATE) 3 earthquakes hit Mindanao

KORONADAL CITY – Threeearthquakes (Magnitude 4.8 and Magnitude 4.7) hit three separate areas Mindanao early today, the Philippine
Institute of Volacnology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

No casualty or damage to properties
were reported in the earthquake described by Phivolcs as tectonic in origin.

In a bulletin, Phivolcs recorded the
first magnitude 4.8 tremor at 1:36 a.m. about 210 kilometers east of Sarangani
in Davao Occidental. It has a deep of 96 kilometers.

Sea foods down 115 in South Cotabato

KORONADAL
CITY –- A suspected food poisoning case was reported in Polomolok, South Cotabato that sent about 115 persons, including more than 30 provincial government workers, top various hospitals due to severe stomach pains, diarrhea and vomiting, officials said.Of the number, 29 remained in Polomolok Municipal Hospital while others provincial government employees are confined in various hospitals here.Health officials and some of the victims believed spoiled sea foods was the culprit.Dr. Alla Baby
