COTABATO CITY -- Thousands of Cotabatenios from various sectors joined this morning's ‘Run for Drug Free Cotabato City.’The activity, initiated by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Cotabato City MayorFrancesCynthia Guiani-Sayadi, was supported by the different sectors like the law enforcement, academe, women, youth, and the private. Maii Satol Ibrahim, city information chief, said the fun run was aimed to promote health and wellness among Cotabateños, aside from its call to end the use of illegal drugs in the city.

NORTH COTABATO --- Three Moro men riding a motorcycle together instantly got killed in a strange accident Thursday in Pigcawayan town in North Cotabato.The fatalities, Mokalidin Salem and his cousin, Adil Salem and companion Ali Arbah were on a motorcycle that tumbled thrice after its front tire hit a fragment of broken stone with jagged edges and exploded.

Cotabato City’s Gomer Carcueva was
recognized recently at one of the Ten Most Inspiring Teachers in the
Philippines.

Carcueva was among 38 nominees for the
award from different places in the country from which 10 were chosen.

Carcueva said the other nominees came
from Manila, Pangasinan, Masbate, Negros Oriental, Dumaguete, Cebu and Bohol.
He was the only nominee from Mindanao.

ISABELA CITY --- There is a new gymnasium now in the city designed for 10,000 occupants which officials intend to use for activities meant to foster solidarity among local Muslim and Christian communities.Isal Ibrahim, acting principal of the Basilan National High School (BNHS) here, on Saturday said the gymnasium was inaugurated on Monday.
The new facility inside the BNHS campus was constructed using a P10 million allocation from the executive department of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

BANGA, South Cotabato - A volunteer fire brigade here will represent the SOCCSKSARGEN region in this year's 3rd National Fire Olympics in Quezon City.Fire Chief Inspector Milo Manlabao, Banga fire chief, said the group will compete in the March 24 national contest to be held at Quezon City Memorial Circle in celebration of fire prevention month.Manlabao said the volunteer fire fighters, composed of about 15 well trained and skilled workers, are determined to bring home the bacon.
