Q1 sees crime drop by 51% in Cotabato City

COTABATO CITY -- Crime rate in this city dropped by 51 percent during the first quarter of this year, police said.In a report during the Ugnayan sa Rehiyon Dose held at the city hall Thursday, local police officials led by Senior Supt. Rolly Octavio told visiting Police Regional Office 12 personnel that the city only recorded 90 index crimes from January to April this year.Index crimes were categorized as theft (27), robbery (27), physical injury (12), homicide (11), murder (9), and motorcycle theft (4).

Maguindanao cops kill 3 gunmen during implementation of election gun ban

PARANG,
Maguindanao – Police killed here three men who resisted arrest and
traded shots with law enforcers during the conduct of checkpoint on election
gun ban.

Police later
found out the suspects were wanted in connection with the murder of a woman and
a former village chairperson last March here.

Jambiran, town police chief, said the three who were on board a motorbike and
armed with hand guns traded shots with lawmen at 11 a.m. when flagged down at a

Coconut palms trigger 3 hour power outage in Cotabato City, environs

COTABATO CITY -- The whole franchise area of Cotabato Light and Power Company (Cotabato Light) plunged into darkness for more than three hours after a huge coconut palms hit the 69 KV line of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP)from Nuling sub-station to the city.Arlene Hepiga of Cotabato Light said the interruption occurred at about 5:30 p.m. during heavy down pour with strong winds brought about by the Low Pressure Area east of Mindanao island.Power was restored three hours later after NGCP linemen found and removed the coconut palm then resume power supply.
