MLANG, North Cotabato -The municipal health office of Mlang in North Cotabato has intensified its campaign for healthy living after it found out that hypertension continuous to be the leading cause of death this year and in the last 5 years. Dr. Glecerio Sotea, Mlang municipal health chief, said hypertension cases became his priority after deaths due to hypertension become rampant in town. Sotea said an average of 60 to 80 people died due to hypertension yearly which he attributed to incorrect healthy lifestyles.

COTABATO CITY –
The Department of Health in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DOH-ARMM)
has formed a task force that will monitor possible entry of persons with Ebola
virus.

Dr. Kadil
Sinolinding, DOH-ARMM regional secretary, said the Task Force Ebola will have
personnel highly trained to handle cases should there is one in the region.

specialist Kadil Sinolinding, Jr., regional health secretary, told reporters
Friday the central office of the Department of Health has recently judged the DOH-ARMM
as this year’s number one in implementing anti-measles and anti-polio immunization programs.

KORONADAL CITY
- A ranking official of the Department of Health in Region 12 has appealed to stakeholders
to consolidate efforts in mitigating problems on malnutrition.

Dr. Teogones
Baluma, DOH 12 regional director, challenged the local government officials to
work closely with the community to address malnutrition problem.

In order for
us to solve the malnutrition problem the local government unit, families and
the community must work together,” Baluma said.

Senator Teofisto ‘TG’ Guingona on Wednesday urged Philippine media to avoid being ‘alarmists’
in reporting about the dreaded ebola virus.

Guingona, chair
of Senate Blue Ribbon Committee at ng Peace, Unification and Reconciliation,
Health and Demography and the Oversight Committee on Anti-Money Laundering, said
reporting the spread of ebola virus without proper background and information could
lead to panic.

line health workers.

of Health in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DOH-ARMM) was named best
performer of the DOH-Manila in the anti-measles and anti-polio mass vaccination
campaign, a health official said.

Dr. Kadil
Sinolinding, Jr, DOH-ARMM regional secretary, said that four of five provincial
health offices in the ARMM have reached more than 100 percent in the
immunization campaign to protect young children from the spread of
measles-rubella (German Measles) and polio disease.

KIDAPAWAN CITY - The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) today reported it immunized more than 300,000 children during theMeasles Rubella Vaccine (MRV) and Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) mass
immunization.Dr.
Eva Rabaya, North CotabatoIntegrated Health Officer, disclosed that a total of
318,982 babies and young children were given MRV-OPV within the 30-day
vaccination campaign period.

KORONADAL
CITY- The Department of Health is still investigating deeper the cause of acute
encephalitis syndrome that killed 10 people in Sultan Kudarat province.

Earlier this
year more than 100 residents of the remote village of Tinalon in the municipality
of Senator Ninoy Aquino, Sultan Kudarat was rushed to various hospitals after they
experienced stomach pain, vomiting and diarrhea.

Early findings
of health professionals revealed that the incident was due to the tainted horse
meat the residents feasted on.
