ARMM has 17 HIV positive patients

COTABATO CITY - The Department of Health in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) today reported that there are already 17 persons found to have been positive with the Human Immunodeficiency (HIV) to date.Dr. Kadil Sinolinding, regional health secretary, said most of the patients were from Maguindanao and all but one were males.ARMM is composed of the provinces of Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.He did not say how the virus were acquired by the patients.The viruscan be transmitted in the sexual fluids, blood or breast milk of an infected person.

Tacurong City's 679 males circumcised

TACURONG CITY - Police officers, fire officers, nurses and doctors pooled resources here and conductedfree circumcision more than 670 children and teenagers.The 14-day 'Operation Libreng Tuli,' which ran from March 30 to April 12, has served 679 children in an activity spearheaded by Tacurong City health services along with the PNP, Bureau of Fire Protection, Sandig Medical Clinic and Hospital as well as nurses under theDOH-Nurse Deployment Project.The team toured in the city's 20 villages to conduct the circumcision and distribution of medicine.

No cholera, diarrhea outbreak in Alamada - official

ALAMADA, North Cotabato - The local government here clarified that no cholera or diarrhea outbreak have occurred in teh village of Giling before the Holy Week.Alamada Administrator Robin Cadava said the incident in Sitio Upper Tambunan, Barangay Guiling was only stomach disorders among the villagers due to water.He said his office only recorded 28 cases and not 79 as earlier reported to be suspected cholera or suspected diarrhea due to high number of patients.Cadava also clarified that only three of the patients were rushed to a hospital inMidsayap while the rest were treated by attending h

Alamada health officeand Suspected cholera outbreak contained

ALAMADA, North Cotabato - At least 79 villagers from a remote community here have been downed by suspected cholera outbreak late last month.But health and localauthorities have said the illness had been contained.Ruben Cadaba, Alamada municipal administrator, said only 26 patients, mostly children, were rushed to the town hospital, treatedand have returned home. They all came from the sub-village of Upper Tambunan, Barnagay Guiling, Alamada, North Cotabato.Dr. Myrna Pascua of the municipal health office said no fatality was reported.

DOH-ARMM appeals for safe drinking water as child dies in Maguindanao evacuation site

COTABATO CITY – With sadness, the Department of Health in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DOH-ARMM) today reported the demise of one of the more than120,000 internally displace persons in Maguindanao.

Koronadal has 1,096 malnourished children in 2014

KORONADAL CITY - The number of malnourished children in this city rose to more than 1,000 in 2014 as compared to only 898 in 2013, the Koronadal City Nutrition Office today said.Veronica Daot, Koronadal City action officer, said last year's number of malnourished children aged 6 months to 12 years old was 1,096.Koronadal City has a population of 158,273 as of 2010 censu. 3 AIDS victims in GenSan die

GENERAL SANTOS CITY -- Three patients suffering from late stages of the Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) have died last week while being treated in separate hospitals here, a health official said Thursday.Dr. Mely Lastimoso, coordinator of the City Health Office’s social hygiene clinic, said the patients, who were all local residents, died due to complications of various opportunistic infections triggered by the disease.She said the fatalities were already afflicted with full-blown AIDS when they earlier sought for treatment.
