Elderly folks get eyeglasses from North Cotabato gov't

KIDAPAWAN CITY --- Thousands of elderly folks stand to receive free eyeglasses from the North Cotabato provincial government as a Yuletide Season gift-giving project for marginalized sectors.The project, dubbed Antipara para kay lolo ug lola, is bankrolled by the office the provincial governor of North Cotabato.The term antipara means reading glasses in most Visayan dialects.

North Cotabato seniors get free eye tests, eyeglasses

KIDAPAWAN CITY – Thousands
of senior citizens in Cotabato have benefited from the outreach program
conducted by the provincial government today in different municipalities,
officials said.

Jessie Enid, focal person on
health and legal matters, said the program includes free eye check-up and the
corresponding distribution of reading glasses under the Antipara para kay Lolo
and Lola Program, part of the early gift-giving program of the provincial
government this Christmas season.

DAVAO CITY -- A Muslim mother gave birth to Mindanao’s first test-tube baby at the Brokenshire Hospital here at 3:43 p.m. Thursday.Baby boy Muhagher, who weighed 3.22 kg. and measured 49 cm. long, is the first baby born from a successful pregnancy through the in vitro fertilization (IVF) offered by Brokenshire Hospital, which opened its IVF facility in October last year.IVF is a process by which an egg is fertilized by sperm outside the body.

Rising dengue cases alarm IPHO-Maguindanao

SHARIFF AGUAK,
Maguindanao -– Health authorities in Maguindanao have expressed alarm
over the rising dengue cases in the province, which to date, have recorded six
deaths due what they described as preventable disease.

Dr. Tahir
Sulaik, Maguindanao health chief and head of the Integrated Provincial health
Office (IPHO), said from January to first week of August, 428 dengue cases have
been reported, about six percent higher as compared to the same period last
year.
