Lanao del Sur, Marawi City now under community quarantine 

COTABATO CITY --- The provincial government of Lanao del Sur on Monday placed the entire province and its capital, Marawi City, under community quarantine to hasten efforts of protecting constituents from the deadly coronavirus.

Gov. Mamintal Adiong and Marawi City Mayor Majul Gandamra signed Monday afternoon the four-page declaration that outlined quarantine regulations based on recommendations by the local medical community, municipal officials, religious leaders and traditional Maranaw elders.

Mayor Sayadi: Cotabato City under "community quarantine" amid COVID-19

Cotabato City will be on ‘COMMUNITY QUARANTINE’ beginning Monday, March 16, 2020

As part of the preventive measures being implemented in Cotabato City amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the city will be put under community quarantine beginning on Monday, March 16.

Although the city is still free from the deadly virus, the local government deemed it necessary to impose strict precautions considering that it is an open city and people from its nearby towns freely go in and out on a daily basis.

3 more Covid-19 deaths in PH: DOH

MANILA — Three more Filipinos with coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) have died, bringing the death toll in the Philippines to five, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Thursday night.

In an announcement, DOH identified the three as Patients No. 5, No. 6, and No. 37.

Patient No. 6, the wife of Patient No. 5, was initially admitted at Cardinal Santos Medical Center and transferred to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine. 

The DOH said she "suddenly experienced difficulty in breathing and was intubated late evening of March 11".

Cotabato provincial government creates Task Force for Covid 19

In response to the declaration of a State of Public Health Emergency of President Rodrigo Duterte, Cotabato Governor Nancy Catamco called for an Inter-Agency meeting to create a Task Force for COVID 19.

The action was taken by the Governor to ensure protection of public health and take part in prevention and mitigation of this infectious disease.

Integrated Public Health Officer Dr. Eva Rabaya, presented a situation report on matter of persons under monitoring (PUM) and person under investigation (PUI).

BARMM's Minister Sinarimbo on anti-COVID-19 self-quarantine 

COTABATO CITY --- The Bangsamoro local government minister today started an anti-COVID-19 self-quarantine after attending a Senate hearing on March 10.

Lawyer Naguib Sinarimbo, also spokesperson of the regional government of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and other senior BARMM officials participated in joint hearing called for by the Senate committees on local government and finance.

The speaker of the 80-member BARMM parliament, lawyer Ali Pangalian Balindong, and Regional Executive Secretary Abdulrauf Macacua, were also present in the hearing.

BARMM to create Inter-Agency Task Force against COVID-19

COTABATO CITY (March 11, 2020)—-The Bangsamoro government, through the Office of the Chief Minister (OCM-BARMM), is set to create an Inter-Agency Task Force to provide policies and formulate practical measures to avoid spread of Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) in the BARMM.
 
BARMM Assistant Executive Secretary Abdullah Cusain said a memorandum creating the Inter-Agency Task Force will be released by the Office of the Executive Secretary to all the ministries and offices of the BARMM this week.

FDA, DOST develop COVID-19 detection kit

MANILA - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a Certificate of Exemption for the SARS CoV-2 PCR Detection Kit according to their press release earlier today.

The said project is funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) through the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD).

The SARS CoV-2 PCR Detection Kit technology is developed by local scientists led by Dr. Raul V. Destura from the University of the Philippines-National Institute of Health (UP-NIH).

Kidapawan remains COVID-19 free

COTABATO CITY  – Sixteen of the 23 persons under monitoring (PUM) for COVID-19 in Kidapawan City have already completed the 14-day mandatory quarantine period without manifesting any symptoms of the disease.

Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph Evangelista, in a statement, said the six Kidapawenios who are listed as PUMs are still undergoing the quarantine period while one was sent to a major hospital, the Cotabato Regional and Medical Center (CRMC), in Cotabato City.

The six who remained in quarantine stage have travel history to South Korea, Hong Kong and Macau.
