7 die, 1,500 down by dengue in N. Cotabato

COTABATO CITY -- Health authorities in North
Cotabato have intensified campaign against cases of dengue as it noted rising
cases this year. Dr. Eva Rabaya, North Cotabato provincial health
chief, said from January to August 15 this year, the Integrated Provincial
Health Office (IPHO) recorded seven death in at least four towns.

This year, Rabaya said, the Provincial Epidemiology
and Surveillance Unit (PESU), listed 1,545 dengue cases which is 92 percent
higher as compared to the same period last year.


Boy died, 4 ill after eating cassava in NCotabato

KIDAPAWAN CITY - A four-year old boy died while his parents and other siblings landed in ahospital after eating cassava served during dinner in remote village in Pikit, North Cotabato on Wednesday evening, officials said. Muslima La, a midwife of Cruzado Clinic where the victims are being treated, identified the fatality as Mama Payag who died due to dehydration and severe stomach ache. The boy parents, identified as Edris and Tingga Payag and their three children Alibai, 4 Asarapia,6 and Ali, 8 all residents of Barangay Gli-gli, Pikit town.


DOH-ARMM boosts drive on voluntary blood donation

Insecticide room spray downs Mlang couple

KIDAPAWAN CITY - Health officials in Mlang, North Cotabato believed a China-made insecticide triggered the illness a couple had experience that landed them in the hospital.Dr. Jun Sotea,Mlang Municipal Health Officer, told DXND Radyo Bida thatthe couple, Pet and Manuel Mindarus, bought the aerosol spray and used it for their room when they started complaining ofnausea and abdominal disorder.Sotea said after learning of the incident, he ordered an investigation.

Tampakan under state of calamity after child dies of dengue

KORONADAL CITY - A state of calamity has been declared in Tampakan, South Cotabato due to rising cases of dengue, the provincial disaster risk reduction and management council today said.A child was reportedly died due to complications after days of high fever.MilaLorca, PDRRMC officer, said the town council has approved a resolution putting the entire town under state of calamity so the local government unit can use its calamity fund to contain the dengue cases.Initial reports showed that more than 100 residents have been downed by dengue.Most of the affected residents were from BarangaysP

DOH-ARMM conducts free immunization to school children

COTABATO CITY– More than 200,000 students in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) will receive free immunization from the region’s Department of Health (DOH-ARMM) within this month.Around 55,000 Grade 1 and 157,000 Grade 7 students from different public schools in the region are targeted to receive free immunization against measles, rubella, tetanus, and diphtheria.
