Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease hits Kidapawan, 48 cases listed in January alone

KIDAPAWAN CITY  – The highly contagious “Hand Foot and Mouth Disease” A Kidapawan City health official has raised the alarm bell over rising cases of the highly contagious Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD) in the city.

“In 2022, we only monitored about 21 cases but in January alone this year, Kidapawan City has already recorded 48 cases in 40 villages,” Dr. Jose Martin M. Evangelista, Pediatrician ng City Health Office said over DXND Radyo Bida.

“This could be under-reported and we expect the number to rise when all cases are reported,” he added.

KORONADAL CITY - NAPIGILAN NA ng lokal na pamahalaan ang pagkalat ng hand, foot, and mouth disease o HFMD sa Banga, South Cotabato.

Sinabi ito sa Radyo Bida ni Banga Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Joseph Franco.

Ayon kay Franco, apektado ng HFMD ang 15 sa 22 mga barangay sa Banga.

Binigyang diin nito na para mapigilan ang pagkalat ng nasabing sakit, nagsasagawa ng disinfection ang MDRRMO sa mga eskwelahan.

BARMM releases P21-M to 7 Mercury Drug pharmacy branches for indigent patients

COTABATO CITY—A total of Php21 million has been released to seven (7) branches of Mercury Drug Pharmacy by the Bangsamoro Government’s Ministry of Social and Security Development (MSSD) to efficiently provide medical services for indigent patients in need.
 
The awarding of the cheque was held at Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex (SKCC), Bangsamoro Government Center, in this city on Jan. 23 during the celebration of the 4th Bangsamoro foundation anniversary.

DOH logs 14% drop in firecracker-related incidents nationwide

BAGUIO CITY – Department of Health (DOH) officer-in-charge Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire on Sunday said they recorded a nationwide decrease in firecracker-related injuries as the country welcomed the New Year compared to the same period in 2022.

"There is a 14 percent decrease in cases recorded in all regions as of this morning," Vergeire said during a press conference at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) grounds after making the rounds of the facility's trauma unit and non-Covid-19 emergency room.

2 BARMM doctors, one service agenda

COTABATO CITY - The new Bangsamoro health minister and the former health secretary of the defunct Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao have agreed to cooperate in serving constituent communities.

The physicians Rizaldy Piang, newly-appointed health minister of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and Kadil Sinolinding, Jr., reached a consensus last week to help each other push the activities of the BARMM health ministry forward.

100 Tawi-Tawi patients treated in mission by MPs 

COTABATO CITY - A big group of eye patients, among them senior citizens, benefitted from a joint medical mission Monday in Tawi-Tawi of three members of the Bangsamoro parliament.

From a hundred patients examined Monday, 63 underwent cataract and pterygium surgery during the outreach activity of the three members of the Bangsamoro parliament --- the eye surgeon Kadil Sinolinding, Jr., Amir Mawallil, and Eddie Alih.

Isa sa mga nasawi ay 21 years old at ang isa pa 69 years old na pawang mga lalaki, ayon sa DOH.

Sa buong rehiyon, may 14 na bagong kaso ang naitala habang pito ang gumaling.

Walang naitalang bagong kaso sa North Cotabato at Sarangani habang may pito sa Gen. Santos City, lima sa South Cotabato at dalawa sa Sultan Kudarat.

SA BARMM, hanggang nitong weekends, walang iniulat na bagong kaso, walang gumaling at wala ring namatay.

MOH intensifies diabetes awareness in BARMM

COTABATO CITY — The Bangsamoro Government, through its Ministry of Health (MOH), is intensifying the awareness of the growing burden of diabetes and the ways to prevent its threat to health.

During the commemoration of World Diabetes Day on Nov. 14, the Ministry’s Non-Communicable Diseases clusters (NCD), in partnership with Cotabato Regional Medical Center, Care Philippines, and the Rotary Club of Cotabato East, conducted free screening for blood sugar and blood pressure, risk assessment using a risk prediction chart, and diabetes self-management education.
