Duterte OKs pilot in-person classes in 'minimal risk' areas

MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte has approved the pilot implementation of face-to-face classes in areas classified with "minimal risk" for the coronavirus.

In a televised public briefing, Education Secretary Leonor Briones said the schools for pilot in-person classes, expected to begin in two months, should pass the Department of Education's safety assessment qualifications.

Tacurong City has 2 new councilors

TACURONG CITY  – The 8th Sangguniang Panlungsod of Tacurong City on Wednesday welcomed its two newest members who filled the slot vacated by former city councilors.

During its regular session on Sept. 8, the city council welcomed newly appointed City Councilors Lina O. Montilla and Geraldine L. Collado after taking their oath of office on separate occasions.

DPWH-12 completes access road for rice, banana farmers in NoCot

MLANG, North Cotabato  -- Banana and rice farmers here are now benefitting from the access road improvement project put up by the government along the Barangays Buayan-Lepaga-Gaunan Road network here.

On Friday, Engr. Basir Ibrahim, regional director of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the Soccsksargen region, said the North Cotabato 3rd District Engineering Office, headed by District Engineer Eddie M. Amir, has already completed the road network that farmers and local folks are now using.

BARMM launches Covid vax registration portal

COTABATO CITY — The Bangsamoro Government launched on Monday, Aug. 9, a web portal that will allow its constituents to easily register for Coronavirus disease (Covid-19) vaccination. 

Health Minister Dr. Bashary Latiph said the portal is a result of the collaboration of the members of the Bangsamoro Inter-Agency Task Force on Covid-19.

“This was made to provide a way, an avenue na magkaroon ng magandang approach on the pre-registration for Covid-19 vaccination, para matugunan ang problema in registering to get vaccinated,” Dr. Latiph said.

DATU ODIN SINSUAT, Maguindanao - Magkatuwang na pinasimulan kahapon ni Bangsamoro Local Government Minister Naguib Sinarimbo at Mayor Cheryl Ann Lu ang pagpapatayo ng tatlong mga bagong barangay halls sa bayan.

Ang mga barangay halls ay itatayo sa Barangay Makir, Kurintem at Labungan bilang capacity-building intervention, o good governance promotion initiative ng Ministry of the Interior and Local Government-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MILG-BARMM) para sa mga barangay governments ng mga naturang lugar.

Maguindanao vows to end Moro’s misery in flooded areas

COTABATO CITY – Maguindanao Gov. Bai Mariam Sangki-Mangudadatu on Thursday has ordered the Provincial Engineering Office (PEO) to look for quick and permanent solution to the recurring floods in Datu Salibo and nearby towns.

At the same time, Gov. Mangudadatu also enjoined all the people of the towns of Datu Salibo, Datu Saudi Ampatuan and Datu Piang “to be part of the solution than mere spectators of this decades old problem.”

Former colleagues recall Aquino’s passion for service

MANILA – Senators recalled how ex-president Benigno “Noynoy" Aquino III, also their former colleague, fulfilled his duties as a public servant with fervor.

Aquino died at the Capitol Medical Center in Quezon City on Thursday. He was 61.

Senator Imee Marcos remembered they were both neophytes in Congress in 1998 — she from Ilocos Norte’s Second District and Aquino from Tarlac.

She said she “will always treasure the memories of our long years together as freshmen legislators” and until 2007.

MSSD allocates P4M for indigent patients in Maguindanao

COTABATO CITY — Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), Cotabato Sanitarium Hospital, and Maguindanao Provincial Hospital entered into agreements, amounting to Php4,000,000.00, to cater the medical needs of indigent patients in Maguindanao.
 
MSSD Minister Atty. Raissa Jajurie, Maguindanao Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) Chief Dr. Elizabeth Samama, and Cotabato Sanitarium Hospital Chief Dr. Ibrahim V. Pangato. Jr. signed Memoranda of Agreements (MOAs) on June 17 and 18.
 

DBS barangay execs back entry of mayor to UBJP

COTABATO CITY --- Barangay leaders in what could now be Maguindanao’s most peaceful town are certain their mayor’s having joined the United Bangsamoro Justice Party will boost their municipal government’s development initiatives.

Mayor Marshall Sinsuat, mayor of the seaside Datu Blah Sinsuat town in Maguindanao, joined the UBJP last May 8.

The Datu Blah Sinsuat is most known as DBS, a booming town along the west coast of Maguindanao province.
