COTABATO CITY (CBCP)— The Archdiocese of Cotabato has decided to recapture the essence of Undas” by encouraging its parishes to organize wholesome activities that will highlight the lives and virtues of Catholic saints, replacing the popular Halloween practices.

From the Archdiocese of CotabatoandPope St. Pius V instituted the feast shortly after the victory, and Pope Clement XI extended it to the entire Church in celebration of another victory over the Turkish Muslims in 1716.The month of October is a good time to commit to praying the Rosary everyday. The Rosary will bring great peace and holiness to your life.It is a powerful instrument for conversion . The Rosary is the best method of honoring Mary. It protects the Church from false teachings and keeps her safe from the attacks from the Enemy.

MANILA — Recognizing the laudable contribution of educators to the country, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has called on the Filipino faithful to express gratitude to the tireless commitment of teachers to educate and mold young individuals into becoming responsible members of society. PIDDIG, Ilocos Norte (Sept. 27)– The 200-year old church of Saint Anne Parish in Piddig, Ilocos Norte was closed for public worship after it was deemed unsafe” during liturgical rites presided over by Laoag Bishop Renato P. Mayugba, DD, on September 14, 2014, Feast of the Triumph of the Cross.According to Fr. Ericson Josue, the Commission Head of the Church Heritage of the diocese, the foundation of the said church has been discovered to be ‘weak’ to carry the massive walls, the edifice.” The place of worship is transferred to a provisional church within the parish compound.

One in celebrating OMI jubilee

For forming me to be a missionary to the poor, a formation that is at the basis of this award, I thank my religious Congregation, the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate.

VATICAN CITY (AP) — Forty I do’s” — or Si” in Italian — were pronounced in St. Peter’s Basilica Sunday as Pope Francis married 20 couples, with one bride already a mother. Francis in his homily likened families to the bricks that build society. Among the couples, all from the Rome area, is one in which the groom’s first marriage was annulled by the church and the bride has a daughter from an earlier relationship.Some of the other couples already were living together. The Vatican views sex outside marriage as sin, but Francis stresses the church should be a forgiving one.

COTABATO CITY (Sept. 14/NDBC) -- On September 16, the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) will honorHis Eminence Orlando Cardinal Quevedo, OMI, DD,archbishop of Cotabato, and five other men and women who exemplify the university in their respective fields.The cardinalis the 4th OMI so honored by ADMU. The first was Archbishop Gerard Mongeau, OMI, one of the seven Oblate pioneers in the Philippines,the second was posthumous award given to Jolo Bishop Benjamin de Jesus, OMI and the third was given to Fr. Eliseo 'Jun Mercado, OMI.

COTABATO CITY (Sept. 13/NDBC) - The Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) will honor His
Eminence Orlando Cardinal Quevedo, OMI, DD,archbishop of Cotabato, and five other men
and women who exemplify the university in their respective fields, the ADMU
announced today.The
recognition will be on September 16 during the ADMU Special Academic
Convocation at Rev. Henry Lee Irvin, S.J. Theatre.

TACURONG CITY
(Sept. 12/NDBC) – Out of school youth and young professionals from various
parishes in the Archdiocese of Cotabato take center stage as they join the 6th
Vocation Month Jamboree.

Tacurong City
will host the two-day event which starts on September 27 as part of the
culminating celebration of Vocation Month.

Participantswill listen to talks and discussions on religious life, single blessedness and
married life, including joining religious communities.
