Fr. Jose D. Ante, 79, dies in car accident in Davao Sur

COTABATO CITY -– A missionary priest who
has been serving war-torn Sulu for the past few years and once served as Oblates
of Mary Immaculate provincial superior, died in a vehicular accident in the
national highway in Matanao, Davao del Sur Friday, police said.

Fr. Jose Ante of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate died
expired at the Sinawilan Medical Clinic in Barangay Sinawingan, Matanao, Davao
del Sur at 9:30 a.m, according to Police Officer 2 Arturo Papas, traffic
investigator of Matanao PNP.

2 girls drown in North Cotabato river

KIDAPAWAN CITY -What was supposed to be a party time for two girls turned out to betragic when both died after they drowned in a river in Arakan town in North Cotabato on Monday. Superintendent Bernard Tayong, spokesman for the Cotabato Provincial Police Office (CPPO), said the girls, aged 13 and 14, were classmates who wanted to enjoy the holiday by getting a dip on the Tinanan River located in Sitio Valencia, Barangay Santo Nino in Arakan. Both drowning victims were pupils of the Meocan Elementary School in Barangay Meocan, also in Arakan.
