CAMP SK PENDATUN, Maguindanao Norte - In the intensified operations against illegal drugs, combined elements of Marawi CPS/CDEU (lead unit); CDEU Operative, Marawi CPS; DEU/PSOG; 1st PMFC; and 1403rd RMFC, RMFB 14 conducted a buy bust operation, resulting in the arrest of two (2) drug suspects and successful seizure of suspected shabu worth P170,000 in Brgy. Mipantao Gadongan , Marawi City on February 22, 2024.

MANILA – Four governors from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) said the region is proud to assert its identity as an integral part of the Republic of the Philippines.

The statement was issued Friday, the same day BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim opposed calls for the separation of Mindanao.

Marcos made the assurance as he joined the celebration of BARMM’s 5th founding anniversary.

TOKYO – An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.6 rocked a wide area on the Sea of Japan coast Monday, disrupting the festive mood of New Year celebrations, with a large tsunami warning issued for the central prefecture of Ishikawa.

The quake, which also shook buildings in central Tokyo, occurred around 4:10 p.m., registering a maximum of 7 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale on the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa, the Japan Meteorological Agency said. A 1.2-meter tsunami reached Wajima Port in the region.

MANILA – The Department of Budget and Management on Saturday assured the public of the national government’s transparent utilization of the PHP5.768 trillion budget for 2024.

The DBM shall continue to ensure "sound, efficient, and effective management and utilization of government resources to achieve our country’s development goals,” Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said in a statement.

COTABATO CITY - Gunmen shot dead a Moro patriarch and wounded his wife and two-year-old son in a daytime ambush in Barangay Tamontaka 4 here on Tuesday afternoon.

The Cotabato City Police Office, in a statement Wednesday, said Rahim Timbangan Arsad, possibly the target of the attack, died on the spot from bullet wounds in the head.

Arsad and his spouse, Melissa, and their two-month old son were riding a motorcycle together on their way to somewhere when they were attacked by men armed with pistols, positioned along a stretch of a highway in Barangay Tamontaka 4.
