26 Norala farmers graduate from DAR-Farm Business School 

NORALA, South Cotabato - The Department of Agrarian Reform-Farm Business School (DAR-FBS) in Barangay San Jose, Norala South Cotabato built by DAR, other line agencies and local government unit have produced 26 farmers cum business persons.

This is the 8th FBS site established by the department since 2015.

There were 26 farmers who successfully completed the 25 sessions of the season long program. The journey was not easy but the graduates proved that excuses were not an option for a person who has a strong determination to finish the race.

Lake Sebu farmers get irrigation projects

LAKE SEBU, South Cotabato – Rice and corn farmers in the village of Ned here are expected to improve productivity with the turnover of three Small Irrigation Projects (SIPs).

This irrigation projects are the Kinubing SIP, New Tupi SIP and Tinugas SIP, built under Mindanao Sustainable Agrarian and Agriculture Development (MinSAAD) Project.

The turnover program was conducted last August 19, 2019 at Ned Settlement, Lake Sebu.

It was initiated by the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), the lead implementing agency.

State university hosts fruit harvest festival

KABACAN, North Cotabato – Where in the country can anyone can just pick and eat lanzones for free?  It’s here, it’s inside the state university lanzones orchard Thursday.

One can eat lanzones all he or she can, no ifs, no buts.

Students, teachers, alumni and visitors feasted on the sweet lanzones during the day long harvest festival as a form of thanksgiving for bountiful harvest every year.

Basilan gov’t intensifies rice production program

BASILAN --- The provincial government has expanded its agricultural interventions meant to boost rice production in this island province.

Gov. Jim Salliman said in statement Saturday the provincial government is now providing more comprehensive support to local rice farmers for them to have bumper harvests for every cropping season.

He said one of their goals in expanding the provincial government’s rice sufficiency program is for traders to have enough supply of grains to sell in the markets.

LBP caravan draws 1,500 farmers, MSMEs in NoCot

KIDAPAWAN CITY  – Farmer Rolly Pagunsan has been farming palay and corn the past two decades but it was only his first time, if ever, to get a loan from a government bank, to fund his corn fields with minimal interest.

Due to lack of start-up capital during planting season for his rice and corn fields in Matalam, North Cotabato, Pagunsan ended up break even and most of the time “failure.”

With the loan opportunity from government agencies, the 50-year-old Pagunsan sees an empowered agriculture sector in North Cotabato.

7,157 farmers in Region XII benefit from DA’s easy access loan

KORONADAL CITY- Farmers and fisherfolks of SOCCSKSARGEN Region have already accessed P250-Million worth of financing credits from the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) Production Loan Easy Access (PLEA) Program.

DA XII Regional Executive Director Milagros Casis disclosed that a total of Php 250, 289,510 were availed by 7,157 small farmers and fisherfolks of the region from the PLEA Program being implemented by the DA’s attached agency - Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC).

TESDA, DAR push programs to fight poverty, insurgency

KORONADAL CITY  – Two government agencies tasked to help improve lives of Filipino through various programs have joined together to support farmers who received lands from the government by providing them livelihood trainings.

These agencies are the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA 12) AND Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Soccsksargen.

900 ARBs in South Cotabato receive land titles

SURALLAH, South Cotabato - The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in South Cotabato has distributed Certificate of Land Ownership Award (CLOA) titles for 1,400 hectares of agricultural lands to 900 farmer beneficiaries of Surallah.

CLOA is a land title issued by the department to ensure security of tenure of farmers who have been tilling the land for years.

Farmers who received the ownership award are expected to improve and develop their lands through sustainable crop production and livestock raising.

North Cotabato folk urged to patronize local farm products

NORTH COTABATO --- The provincial government aims to empower local agricultural communities by educating the public on the need to patronize their products to boost domestic economy.

Newcomer Gov. Nancy Catamco said Friday offices under her shall embark on campaigns for local residents to patronize rice and other agricultural products from farming enclaves in North Cotabato’s 17 towns and the more than 40 barangays in its capital, Kidapawan City.

Ang mga ARBs ay mula sa 10 bayan ng lalawigan at mga beneficiaries ng Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).

Ang “Bahay Kubo” contest ay nagpapakita ng mga maraming produktong agrikultura mula sa lalawigan.

Ipinagmamalaki ng mga ARBs ang mga preskong gulay at prutas na bihirang makita sa ibang lalawigan.
