COTABATO CITY  – The Cotabato City traffic management unit is preparing a rerouting plan to be implemented once the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) shuts down Quirino Bridge for rehabilitation and repair.

City Councilor Eduardo Rabago, chair of the city council’s committee on transportation, said the rerouting will be implemented with the impending closure of vital link between the city and northern part of Maguindanao through the Quirino Bridge.

“This is just a dry run ahead of the closure of Quirino Bridge,” Rabago told reporters.

Public works engineers have declared the bridge unfit for heavy equipment and cargo trucks.

Under the traffic rerouting plan, incoming vehicles from Sultan Kudarat town in Maguindanao will use the Delta Bridge to Jojo Guiani Avenue and Jojo Guiani Bridge along Matampay River and proceed to SK Pendatun Avenue to the city proper.

Outgoing motorists will use the SK Pendatun Avenue from city proper than to Jojo Guiani Bridge and Jojo Guiani Avenue to Delta Bridge toward Sultan Kudarat town.

Rabago said police and military personnel will provide assistance to traffic enforcers to avoid congestion of vehicles.

Rabago appealed to motorists to abide by the rerouting plan to avoid delay and congestion along entry and exit points.
