COTABATO CITY – Officials of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority sign a memorandum of agreement on socio-economic assistance for decommissioned Moro rebels, opening opportunities and hope for Bangsamoro.

The socio-economic assistance for the decommissioned combatants of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front is stipulated in the annexes on Program for Normalization in the Bangsamoro.

TESDA Director General Isidro S. Lapeña and TESDA Deputy Director General for Communities and Local Government Unit Services Mariano Michael M. Velarde Jr signed the MOA with OPAPP Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr and witnessed by Minister Mohaqher Iqbal of the BARMM education ministry.

“TESDA is a great help in the realization of the programs in BARMM,” Sec. Galvez said.

Galves also emphasized the importance of TESDA program in the normalization for the MILF combatants. He said TESDA plays an important role in skills development and livelihood training in the BARMM area.

“Thank you TESDA for making this dream into realty,” Galvez added.

Lapeña vowed to help the BARMM area for the TESDA program especially for combatants who are now tired of war and want a new beginning for their lives and families.

“We are ready and so is our training center,” he said. “Let’s help build this land and give opportunity to our people, as what TESDA always says TESDA Abot Lahat,” Sec. Lapeña said.

According to OPAPP, about 150 Moro combatants were decommissioned in 2015 and for this year over 1,000 combatants laid down their arms.

More are going to under decommissioning process until 2020. (KMT)
