Suicide bomber dies in Jolo foiled bomb attack

JOLO, Sulu - Due to the austere security measures and sustained cooperation by the community, ground forces thwarted a bomb attack on a military detachment in Barangay Kajatian, Indanan, Sulu at 5:45pm Sunday, September 8.

The bomber was the lone fatality.

The suicide bomber was in ABAYA attire, a woman and foriegn looking with long hair based on the recovered mutilated head. However, the recovered dismembered hand is similar to that of a man.

The trigger mechanism was also recovered. The scene of the crime has been secured and preserved while SOCO investigation is ongoing as of this report.

"We call on every Suluanon to remain vigilant and to report suspicious items and personalities to authorities," Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, Westmincom chief, said in a statement.

"We assure the public that the WestMinCom forces shall sustain our security and peace efforts to prevent hostile acts that may disrupt the peace and development in the Bangsamoro Region," he added.
