Stolen vehicle recovered from possession of police officer

COTABATO CITY --- The Regional Highway Patrol Unit-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao recovered Monday a stolen vehicle from the deputy police chief of Marawi City.

Col. Hesran Mojica, director of the RHPU-BARMM, told reporters here Tuesday the white Ford Everest they seized from Police Captain Santos Monares is now impounded.

Mojica said Monares, deputy chief of the Marawi City police, asserted that he merely purchased the sports utility vehicle from a captain assigned in the Police Regional Office-10 based in Cagayan de Oro City.

Mojica said the recovered SUV is owned by someone who is residing in Sta. Ana, Manila.

“It was reported as stolen,” Mojica said.

He said a criminal case shall be filed against Monares at the Office of the City Prosecutor in Marawi City.
