SHARIFF SAYDONA, Maguindanao - Gov. Bai Meriam Mangudadatu of Maguindanao, actor Robin Padilla, Army 601st brigade commander Colonel Jose Narciso and 33rd Infantry Battalion commander Lt. Colonel Elmer Boongaling on Monday led the medical-dental and relief distribution to families affected by armed conflict in Shariff Saydona Mustapha town.

The Army and provincial government workers have joined hands in distributing relief goods, conduct of medical and dental services to internally displaced persons (IDPs) due to continuing military operations against IS linked Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF).

Colonel Boongaling said the activities also include distribution of reading glasses and “Operation Tuli” (circumcision) in Barangays Bakat, Ganta, Pegatin 1 and Pegatin 2, all in Shariff Saydona Mustapha.

Two weeks earlier, government forces and BIFF rebels under Abu Toraife clashed in Barangay Dasawaao, Shariff Saydona that left one soldier and 15 BIFF rebels dead.

Shariff Saydona Mustapha Mayor Sajid Islam Ampatuan said close to 1,500 families were affected and displaced.  They all received relief assistance from the provincial government.

Robin Padilla, also known as “Abdul Aziz,” told the IDPs he was with them in times of difficulty and urged them to help the government fight extremism.

He also shared his wisdom and experience of becoming an Islam was one of the greatest things happen in his life.

Padilla also urged the Muslims to remain faithful and help the Duterte government attain peace in this troubled island of Mindanao.

“My Muslim brothers and sisters don’t go against the government instead, unite and support its programs,” Padilla said.
